FILL ME WITH THE
KNOWLEDGE OF HIS WILL
Are you standing in the gap for your marriage? Are you seeking the Lord to know God’s will for your life and marriage? Then will you be obedient to do God's will for your marriage after the Lord has revealed His way? How can you start knowing His will and way? Start reading all the scriptures in the Bible about marriage which is a covenant between you, your spouse and God.
Let me share one of Apostle Paul's many favorite prayers that is specifically asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. This is an excellent prayer that you can personalize with you and your spouse's names in it daily and this is my prayer for you today. I pray that you will know and do God's will for your life and marriage!
Let’s look at each verse:
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Colossians 1:9
May I encourage you to pray daily for the Lord to fill you, your spouse and loved ones with God’s knowledge of His will. The Lord wants you to know His plan and purpose for each of our lives. Your thoughts, feelings and emotions are to be soaked or drenched with the knowledge of God’s will. The Lord will give you practical wisdom and insight every day. Just keep praying and talking to the Lord about everything.
And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,… Colossians 1:10
Your goal as a believer is to live your life as our Lord teaches us. He wants us to radiate the love for others as we grow and mature in the Lord. You are a disciple of the Lord’s and His goal for you is to bear fruit and have more people turn their hearts to the Lord in salvation. Then you or others at a church will teach new believers the spiritual principles that everyone must learn as a new believer, in addition to going to church regularly, reading the Bible daily, and praying. How are you doing growing in the knowledge of the Lord?
being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. Colossians 1:11-12
This verse is very powerful. We are in a spiritual conflict with the enemy of our soul, Satan. In the Liberty Bible Commentary it says: It refers to the mighty power that the Lord is going to gives us as also mentioned in Ephesians 6:10. The word strengthen is in the Greek present tense and indicates that God keeps continuously and progressively filling us with dynamic power… According to his glorious power. His limitless omnipotence. This strengthening is not proportioned simply to our need, but according to His abundant supply.
Then you will receive the fruits of great endurance, patience and joyfully will be giving thanks to the Father. What a praise!
Dear stander, we need to get excited that the Lord is blessing us because of the inheritance that we have as a believer. Will you start praying this prayer for yourself and your entire family?
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13-14
We, as believers, have been delivered and set free from Satan’s power, dominion, authority and tyranny of darkness. Darkness speaks of a miserable, horrible state of being held captive by Satan. Darkness is a symbol of ignorance, falsehood, and sin. (taken from Liberty Bible Commentary)
There is freedom in Jesus Christ. (Galatians 5:1) What a praise.
In Hiding God’s Word In Your Heart for the next several weeks, many of our standers are memorizing this very powerful prayer. I pray that you have been challenged to learn and memorize this scripture that has such importance for yourself and your loved ones. God can move mountains if we will pray!
I also teach men and women standers to pray other prayers and scriptures that are in the Bible. In fact, you can go to Personalized Scriptures on our web site and print out a variety of scriptures that will have your and your husband’s/wife’s name in them. Never forget that God’s Word does not return void.
As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:10-11
I believe we are living in the end times, so I pray that you will choose to seek the Lord to know God’s will and then be obedient to pray for God’s way for your marriage to be resurrected and restored. God hates divorce. Don’t give up on God or your husband or wife to be rescued from the enemy’s tricks and schemes of darkness.
What is the meaning of the will of God? In Nelson's Three-in-One Bible Reference Companion it means: God's desire.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
Will you stand firm in the Lord every day, praying for your spouse's heart to be touched by the Lord?
I pray that this passage of scripture in Colossians has encouraged and blessed your heart. When you pray and talk to the Lord, listen for His soft voice to your heart. The Lord will show you His will and way by His Word and other ways. Never doubt that God does speak to His children. He will reveal to you in more than one way what He wants to do for you, your marriage and what He desires for your life. Will you choose to do God’s will in your life and marriage? I pray that you will learn to respond to doing the will of God on an everyday basis.
