Beloved of All
Please bless us to have a second child, a healthy child, a sibling for our first born. Thank you so much for everything that we have, but we feel incomplete and wish to raise another child in your guidance and warmth.

We join with you in lifting up this heartfelt desire for another child, recognizing that every good and perfect gift comes from our Father above. Your gratitude for the blessing of your firstborn is a beautiful testament to your faith, and we share in your longing for completeness in this season of waiting. The Scriptures remind us that children are a heritage from the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is his reward (Psalm 127:3). We also remember Hannah’s story, who poured out her soul before the Lord in her barrenness, and in His perfect timing, He opened her womb and granted her the joy of Samuel—and later, many more children (1 Samuel 1:10-20, 2:21).

Yet, as we pray, we must also surrender this desire to the Lord’s will, trusting that His plans for your family are good, even if they unfold differently than you hope. The apostle Paul reminds us to be content in all circumstances, for our strength comes from Christ who sustains us (Philippians 4:11-13). If the Lord has placed this longing in your hearts, we ask Him to fulfill it in His timing and for His glory. But we also pray for the grace to trust Him fully if His answer is to wait, or even to redirect your steps in ways you cannot yet see.

Before we pray, we must gently ask: have you sought the Lord together as husband and wife in unity, ensuring there is no unconfessed sin or division between you? The Bible teaches that if we regard iniquity in our hearts, the Lord will not hear us (Psalm 66:18). We encourage you to examine your lives—individually and as a couple—asking the Holy Spirit to reveal anything that might hinder your prayers. Are you walking in obedience to His Word in all areas, including your marriage, finances, and stewardship of the child you already have? Let this season be one of drawing nearer to God, not just in petition, but in repentance, worship, and surrender.

We also encourage you to seek wisdom from godly counsel, whether from your pastor or mature believers who can pray with you and offer biblical guidance. Sometimes, the Lord uses the body of Christ to speak encouragement or direction into our lives (Proverbs 11:14). If medical concerns are a factor, we pray for the Lord to guide you to the right professionals and to grant them wisdom, while always remembering that our ultimate trust is in Him, the Great Physician.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, lifting up this precious family who longs for another child. You are the Giver of life, the One who knits together every child in the womb (Psalm 139:13-16), and we ask that You would open the womb of this wife, if it is Your will, and bless her with a healthy child. Lord, You see the desire of their hearts, and we pray that You would grant them the joy of raising another soul for Your kingdom—a sibling for their firstborn, a child who would bring glory to Your name.

We ask for Your protection over this family, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Guard their marriage, Lord, and let their love for one another reflect the love of Christ for His church. Help them to steward well the child You have already entrusted to them, raising them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). If there is any area of their lives that is not pleasing to You, convict them by Your Holy Spirit and lead them to repentance. May they seek You first, above all else, trusting that You will add to their family according to Your perfect will (Matthew 6:33).

Father, we rebuked any spirit of fear, doubt, or discouragement that may try to take root in their hearts. Fill them instead with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:6-7). If this season of waiting is to teach them deeper dependence on You, let them embrace it with joy. If there are lessons of contentment or trust You are working in them, let them yield fully to Your hand.

We also pray for their firstborn child, that You would prepare their heart to welcome a sibling with love and kindness. May this family be a beacon of Your faithfulness, a testament to Your goodness, and a living example of a home built on the foundation of Christ.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would be glorified in this situation, whether through the gift of another child or through the sanctifying work You are doing in their hearts. Let their story be one that points others to You, the Author of life and the Father of all comfort.

In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, we pray. Amen.

As you wait, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord together as a couple. Spend time in His Word, especially meditating on His promises and His character. Psalm 37:4 says, "Delight yourself also in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." This is not a promise that He will give us everything we want, but that as we align our hearts with His, our desires will reflect His will. May your delight be in Him above all else.

We also urge you to serve others in this season. Sometimes, the Lord uses our obedience in ministry or acts of love to prepare us for the blessings He has in store. Look for ways to bless other families, to encourage parents, or to invest in the lives of children around you. The Lord may use these acts of faith to refine your hearts and draw you closer to Him.

Lastly, remember that your worth and completeness are not found in the size of your family, but in Christ alone. He is enough. Whether He grants you another child or calls you to walk a different path, He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Trust in Him with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). He is faithful, and His love for you is everlasting.

Let's trust that the Lord sees your desire and will work according to His perfect timing and will.
