Feeling so sad. My dad is in a memory care facility. My mom will visit him only sometimes. My oldest sister and I are the only ones in our family that visit dad. There are three other siblings who live near him that won't bother to go there. How can they be so disrespectful. I know its hard to visit parents in a care facility, but I have to do this why don't they do the same? I feel abandoned.

I am praying for you and your family. Sometimes it is so hard for people to see others they love so much in these situations. As a child, I could not bear to be around someone who was sick or hurting, it made me so afraid and uncomfortable. It hurt to see them like this. I pray that they will see Jesus in your dad and desire to be close to him. Being with someone who is ill or deteriorating is a special ministry, just like a surgeon or fireman or parmedic. Not everyone can do this. Continue the prayers for your family and love them where they are, too. Know they must be hurting, but may not be able to deal with the situation. May the love of God fill you all during this time and bring you closer together to support your dad.

I am so sorry 1st to hear that your Dad is in a Memory Care Facility but also that the other family members have shyed away from seeing your Dad. But I also feel that Terri brought up a good point about the fact that maybe it's just hard for them to see your Dad that way. I have worked in many capacities taking care of people. First I took care of physically and mentally retarded children, and then I started taking care of the elderly once working on the Alzheimer's unit and I know how hard it must be for family's when their loved ones start forgetting things, and especially when they can't remember their loved ones. But I will tell you this it does not go unnoticed by the staff! We always knew who the involved family members were! I no longer work as a CNA but my MIL is in a Personal Care Facility and sometimes I feel quilty not seeing her more often than I do because of the way I work, but I have really been trying harder since she'll be 99 years young In Jan. And before my Mom passed away last May she was in a nursing home for rehabilitation, so I know how hard it is. Well God see's how faithful you are and he will bless you and your sister.
