We understand the weight of fear and the struggle when it feels like you have no control over your circumstances or emotions. It’s clear that fear is gripping your heart, and we want to remind you that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound judgment. The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7, *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."* This is not just a comforting thought—it is a promise from the Lord Himself. Fear is not from God, and it has no authority over those who belong to Christ.
You mentioned that you don’t feel you have any "commanding" in your life, and that fear overwhelms you. We want to encourage you that true command and authority come from the Lord. When we surrender our lives to Jesus Christ, we are no longer slaves to fear, but we are children of God, equipped with His strength. Psalm 27:1 declares, *"The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?"* Your strength is not found in your own ability to control or command, but in the Lord, who holds all things in His hands.
It’s also important to address that your request did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ. We can only come to the Father through Jesus, as He Himself said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved or find true peace. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that He died for you and rose again, and invite Him to be your Lord and Savior. It is only through Him that fear loses its grip, and we find the courage to live boldly for God’s glory.
We also want to gently ask: are there specific fears or sins in your life that you haven’t surrendered to the Lord? Sometimes fear takes root when we hold onto things we know are not pleasing to God. If there is unconfessed sin, we encourage you to bring it before the Lord in repentance. 1 John 1:9 assures us, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* There is freedom in Christ when we turn away from sin and walk in His truth.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this beloved child of Yours who is battling fear and feeling powerless. Lord, we know that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound judgment. We ask that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit, driving out every trace of fear and replacing it with Your perfect peace. Remind them that You are their strength, their shield, and their ever-present help in trouble.
Father, if there is any area of their life where they have not fully surrendered to You, we pray that You would convict their heart and lead them to repentance. Help them to trust in You completely, knowing that You are sovereign over all things. Give them the courage to stand firm in Your promises and to walk in the authority You have given them as Your child.
We rebuke every spirit of fear that is trying to take hold of their mind and heart. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we command fear to flee, and we declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Strengthen them, Lord, and let them know that they are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves them.
We pray all these things in the powerful and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to meditate on God’s Word daily, especially verses that speak of His love, power, and protection. Psalm 56:3 says, *"When I am afraid, I will trust in you."* Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, and remember that He is with you always. If fear begins to creep in, speak the truth of God’s Word aloud and declare His promises over your life. You are not alone in this battle—God is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you. Stay rooted in prayer, in Scripture, and in fellowship with other believers who can encourage and support you. You are loved, you are valued, and you are victorious in Christ!
