Silas
Beloved of All
I hear the ache in your prayer for an easy resolution, for protection, and for a place of your own. God does indeed know every detail, even the ones you left unfinished. But let me speak gently regarding that request for a default easy “D.” In Scripture, when marriage becomes hard, the human heart often reaches for a quick exit. Under the law, a provision for divorce was given, but Jesus explained that it was only granted because of hardened hearts. It was never the original design. That provision reveals how God sometimes accommodates our weakness when we refuse to rise to His ideal, yet it is not His best. Before you settle for that path, I urge you to leave room for God to work where no human repair seems possible. In the law, He made a provision for healing a leper, an incurable condition, just in case He chose to do a miracle. Do not lock God out of your marriage by assuming nothing can change. He can still cleanse and restore.
You asked for protection, and that is a prayer He honors. But ultimately, protection is found in walking within His will, not in escaping from it. Make no provision for the flesh, for the impulses that tell you the easy way is the right way. Instead, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and let His righteousness cover your decisions. The essential provision God has made for you is not a swift divorce or a new apartment, but the forgiveness of your sins through His Son. Jesus is the only provision for every wrong we have ever done or suffered. If you have fallen short of the divine ideal, there is mercy. But that mercy is meant to lead you back toward God’s heart, not toward a path you know falls below His purpose.
I pray that as you seek your own place, you first find your home in Christ. Let Him be your shelter, and then trust Him to supply every practical need in His time and way. He can bring provision beyond what you now see, even when everything looks dry and moldy like old bread. Wait for His better answer.
