Fasting difficulty

I want The Lord to speak to me. But I find Difficult to fast. Because I had no appetite and had an operation and now I am alright. Pl. Pray

We hear your heart’s cry to draw nearer to the Lord and long for His voice to speak clearly to you. Fasting is a powerful spiritual discipline, but we understand that physical limitations—such as recovering from surgery or a lack of appetite—can make traditional fasting challenging. The Lord sees your desire and honors the posture of your heart, even when the body struggles.

First, let us affirm that fasting is not about legalism or earning God’s favor, but about humbling ourselves before Him and seeking His face with greater intensity. The prophet Isaiah reminds us of the true purpose of fasting: *"Isn’t this the fast that I have chosen: to release the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? Isn’t it to distribute your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh?"* (Isaiah 58:6-7). Fasting is meant to align our hearts with God’s heart for justice, mercy, and righteousness.

Since traditional fasting may not be feasible for you right now, consider alternative forms of fasting that still honor the Lord. You might fast from certain foods, media, entertainment, or even negative thoughts and words. The key is to replace what you are fasting from with more time in prayer, worship, and the Word. Jesus said, *"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God"* (Matthew 4:4). Even if your body cannot fast from food, your spirit can feast on God’s presence and His Word.

We must also gently address a concern in your request. You mentioned "fasting++difficulty" and "Pl. Pray," which may suggest a reliance on symbols or abbreviations rather than the full and powerful name of Jesus. There is no other name by which we can approach the Father except through Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* It is only through the blood of Jesus that we have access to the Father, and it is in His name alone that we pray. Let us never take for granted the privilege of coming boldly to the throne of grace because of what Christ has done for us (Hebrews 4:16).

Now, let us pray together for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, grateful for the access we have to Your throne because of Your Son’s sacrifice. Lord, we lift up our brother/sister who is longing to hear Your voice and draw closer to You. We thank You for their desire to seek You through fasting, even when their body makes it difficult. Father, we ask that You would meet them where they are and show them creative ways to fast that honor You and strengthen their spirit.

Lord, we pray that You would open their spiritual ears to hear Your voice clearly. Speak to them in the quiet moments, through Your Word, and in the stillness of their heart. Remove any distractions or hindrances that may be keeping them from sensing Your presence. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may be sensitive to Your leading and direction.

Father, we also ask that You would strengthen their body as they recover from surgery. Provide them with the nourishment they need to heal, and give them wisdom in how to care for themselves in a way that honors You. Help them to see that their physical limitations do not limit Your ability to move in their life. Teach them to rely on You in every area—spirit, soul, and body.

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of discouragement or doubt that may be trying to convince them that You are not speaking or that their efforts are in vain. We declare that You are a God who speaks, and Your sheep hear Your voice (John 10:27). We pray that You would fill them with faith and expectancy as they seek You.

Finally, Father, we ask that You would draw them into deeper intimacy with You. May they experience the joy of Your presence and the peace that surpasses all understanding. Help them to walk in obedience to Your Word and to live a life that brings glory to Your name.

We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Beloved, do not grow weary in seeking the Lord. Even if you cannot fast in the traditional sense, your heart’s desire to draw near to Him is pleasing in His sight. Remember the words of Jeremiah 29:13: *"You shall seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart."* Keep pressing in, keep listening, and keep trusting that the Lord will speak to you in His perfect timing and way. You are not alone in this journey—He is with you, and we are standing with you in prayer.

We're right there with you, friend, as you long to hear the Lord's voice more clearly. Fasting can indeed be challenging, especially when our bodies are still recovering. But remember, God sees your heart's desire, and that's what matters most.

Instead of focusing on what you can't do, let's explore what you can. How about trying an alternative fast? Maybe it's time to fast from negativity, from worry, or from things that don't align with God's best for you. Replace that time with more prayer, worship, and time in His Word. As Jesus said, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." (Matthew 4:4)

And hey, let's not forget the power of Jesus' name. Let's pray in Jesus' name, the only name given under heaven by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

So, let's pray together, shall we?

"Dear Jesus, we come before You today, grateful for the access we have to the Father because of Your sacrifice. Lord, we lift up our ### who is longing to hear Your voice and draw closer to You. Thank You for their desire to seek You, even when their body makes it difficult. Jesus, we ask that You would meet them where they are and show them creative ways to fast that honor You and strengthen their spirit.

Jesus, we also ask that You would strengthen their body as they recover. Provide them with the nourishment they need to heal, and give them wisdom in how to care for themselves in a way that honors You. Help them to see that their physical limitations do not limit Your ability to move in their life. Teach them to rely on You in every area - spirit, soul, and body.

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of discouragement or doubt that may be trying to convince them that You are not speaking or that their efforts are in vain. We declare that You are a God who speaks, and Your sheep hear Your voice. (John 10:27) We pray that You would fill them with faith and expectancy as they seek You.

In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Keep pressing in, dear friend. You're not alone in this journey. He's with you, and we're standing with you in prayer.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer as you sought the Lord’s voice through fasting. It’s a sacred journey, and we recognize the physical challenges you’ve faced—especially after surgery—and how that can make fasting feel even more difficult. Yet your heart’s desire to hear from God is so precious to Him, and we believe He honors that longing.

If in these days you’ve sensed His presence, His guidance, or even a quiet assurance of His nearness, we would love to rejoice with you. Please share a praise report so we can celebrate God’s faithfulness together. If, however, you’re still waiting and the silence feels heavy, know that we’re not stepping away. We’ll continue to lift you up, asking the Lord to meet you in ways that are gentle with your body yet powerful in spirit. Would you post this request again so we can keep praying alongside you?

May the Holy Spirit draw near to you in this season, ministering peace and clarity as you press into Him. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
