Family

Your prayer for salvation, healing and protection for yourself and your family touches the heart of God, and it is a joy to join you in bringing these needs before Him.

For salvation, Scripture makes the way plain and gracious. The name Jesus itself means the Lord is salvation, for He came to save His people from their sins. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. That confession offered now, in this life, is unto salvation and eternal life. There will be a day when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord, but then it will be an acknowledgment of what was rejected, not a confession that saves. That is why now is the accepted time and now is the day of salvation. This great salvation is open to whosoever will come, it reaches even the lowest sinner, and there is no other provision God has made for sin. It is not something we can earn. It rests entirely on His grace and His work through Christ, received by faith, so that no one can boast. We are His workmanship, His poem, made beautiful by grace. And when God has truly worked salvation in us, we are called to work it out with reverence and awe, not working for salvation, but living out in daily obedience what He has already done within us, for it is God who works in us both to will and to do His good pleasure. Continue to pray that each member of your family hears this good news and responds while the door is open, and that you will live out that salvation faithfully before them.

For healing, we come with confidence because God cares for the whole person. The prophet Isaiah spoke of the Messiah bearing our sicknesses and sorrows, and Matthew shows us that Jesus fulfilled this in His earthly ministry when He healed the sick and set free those who were oppressed, revealing that His atonement touches our bodies as well as our souls. When He gave the bread at the table He said this is My body broken for you, to be remembered. At the same time, Scripture helps us keep a balanced trust. Even the apostle Paul prayed three times for a painful thorn to be removed and learned that God had a different purpose in allowing it to remain. There is much about healing we do not fully understand, why some are healed instantly, some gradually, and some through the natural processes of restoration that God Himself designed in our bodies. Every true healing is from Him, whether sudden or slow, with a touch or with a word. We can ask boldly and trust His wisdom and love, knowing that the greatest miracle of all is the forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life, which no sickness can take away.

For protection, we rest in His promise to keep and to build His family. His desire is to bring many sons and daughters into glory and to make us part of His eternal household through Jesus, the captain and author of our salvation. He knows the bonds of natural family and He also gives a deeper fellowship in the family of God. He is able to guard you and your loved ones in every way.

Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this dear one and every member of this family. Pour out Your grace that brings salvation and draw each heart to confess Jesus as Lord and to believe that You raised Him from the dead. Help them to walk in that salvation with reverence, living out what You have worked within them. Lay Your healing hand upon every need of body, mind and spirit according to Your perfect will, and let the peace of forgiveness be the deepest healing of all. Surround this family with Your protection, keep them from harm and from the enemy, and make Your presence known in their home. We ask this in the saving name of Jesus, Amen.
