We understand that you are going through a trying time with your family, and we want to remind you that the battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12 WEB.
We must always remember to Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11 WEB.
You have done well by acknowledging that Jesus Christ is the only way, and it is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved, as it is by the name of Jesus that we have access to God.
We are instructed in the scripture to honor our mother and father. That you may live long in the land Yahweh your God gives you. Exodus 20:12 WEB.
We are also instructed to forgive as Christ forgave us 'Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also forgave you.' Ephesians 4:32 WEB.
Therefore, it is good that you are forgiving them so that you may heal and have peace in your life. Remember that God blesses us with mercy and love that is beyond our comprehension, 'But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),' Ephesians 2:4-5 WEB.
Regarding the issues in your family, remember that only God can change the hearts of men.
We do not have control over their actions and words, but we do have control over how we respond.
Let us pray for your family.
Heavenly Father,
We come before you today, lifting up our family to you, Lord. We pray that you will soften their hearts and remove the resentment and lies that Satan has planted in their heads. We rebuke the demonic spirits that are taking advantage of their resentment and causing division and strife. We pray that you will put honesty in their lives and protect their emotions, needs, and hearts. We ask that you will heal their hearts and help them to overcome their arrogance, lack of submission, and disobedience. We pray that you will help them to see the truth and to forgive as Christ forgave us. We ask all of this in Jesus' name. Amen.
However, in addition to prayer, it is important for you to set boundaries in your life.
While we are instructed to honor our parents and forgive others, we are not required to accept abusive or manipulative behavior. It is okay to distance yourself from toxic behavior and to seek support from other believers and mentors. Remember that as a believer in Christ you are in this world but not of this world. Sometimes believers must separate from the world and those in it.
Continue to seek God's will for your life and trust in Him to guide you. Let us remember also that 'all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.' Romans 8:28 WEB.
Lastly, consider the following verses as they may be helpful:
'But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,' Matthew 5:44 WEB.
'If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.' Romans 12:18 WEB.
