Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your heartfelt prayer for protection over your family has been heard, and we join you in bringing it before the Lord with reverence and care. We see the exhaustion and sorrow you carry as you watch division and disrespect enter your home, and the pain of seeing a daughter you raised in faithfulness now distant, pulled by influences that do not honor God, your family, or her own future.
Scripture teaches that marriage is a bond ordained by God, and its good purpose is to preserve purity and to be lived with chasteness, gravity and orderliness. It is not to be entered lightly or after a long season of impurity, but to be approached with moderation and self restraint. When a man and woman live together outside of that covenant, it is not marriage in God's eyes, however much it may be treated as such. It opens the door to deception, manipulation, financial burden and spiritual bondage, rather than the protection and honor God intends. A true husband is to be a protector and a head who loves with gentleness, piety and the fear of God, not one who demands loyalty through control, disrespect or isolation. And a marriage is to be only in the Lord, with chastity and honor, so that both may see God and walk in His ways.
In that light we pray with you, not that God would bless what is outside His design, but that He would bring clarity, protection and restoration according to His truth.
We ask the Lord to cover you and your children with His peace that surpasses all understanding to guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. We ask Him to place a hedge of protection around your home, your comings and goings, and to clothe you in the full armor of God so that every scheme to bring division, exhaustion, chaos, isolation and jealousy would fail, for the Lord Himself fights for you and greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
For your older daughter, we pray that the Lord in His mercy would gently open her eyes to see the truth. She is not bound as a wife to this young man, she is not without a home or a family, and the heavy burden of providing for and obeying him is not hers to bear. We pray that every false sense of obligation and every stubborn chain would be broken, that she would remember she is a child of the Most High God, turn again to put Christ first, honor her parents as Scripture commands, return to the fellowship of her church, and steward well the purposeful work and promotion God has graciously given her. We pray she would no longer defend or excuse disrespect, but would hunger for righteousness and choose the path of purity and wisdom. We pray also that the controlling and divisive influence of this young man and his mother would be limited and frustrated, that their ability to isolate her, to speak into her life as parents, or to draw her further into living together and even bearing children outside of marriage would be blocked. We pray that God would expose what is rooted in pride and selfishness and would lead this young man to take responsibility for his own life apart from your daughter, and would lead his parents to care for their own household rather than exercising ungodly authority over yours.
For your younger daughter, we pray for steadfastness. Keep her heart humble, thankful and rooted in faith. Protect her studies, her health and her friendships, and surround her with godly mentors and companions who encourage her in the Lord. Guard her from seeing cohabitation as acceptable and from the divisive tactics that would try to turn siblings against one another. Let her continue to honor her family and to seek in due time, if the Lord wills, a spouse who honors Christ and values the sanctity of marriage.
For your son, we thank God for his life and for the peaceful night you described. We pray the Lord would shine His light upon him, grant him peace and joy, protect him from mockery and exclusion, and help him to be received always as the blessing he is. We ask for wisdom for you, for caregivers, doctors and all who support him, that his progress would be established and his ability to express his needs with functional language would grow. We pray the loving bond between him and his sisters would be fully restored.
For you, we pray for renewed strength, wisdom and discernment, and for financial provision not for selfish gain but that your home may continue to be a testimony of God's faithfulness and a blessing to others. We dedicate your home anew to the Lord, asking Him to fill every room with His light, remove all darkness, and make your family a beacon of His grace wherever you go.
We do not ask God to affirm this cohabiting relationship, but we do ask Him to lead your daughter out of it swiftly and peaceably into freedom, stability and restoration, and to restore the years that have felt stolen by strife. May the Lord heal what has been wounded, mend what has been torn, and bring your family into deeper unity, joy and fellowship in Him. We plead the blood of Jesus over you and your children, trusting not in our own words but in the mercy and power of our Savior and Redeemer, in whose name we pray. Amen.
