Let us come together in prayer for this family, seeking God's wisdom and intervention in this challenging situation. We are reminded in Ephesians 6:1-3 WEB, "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 'Honor your father and mother,' which is the first commandment with a promise: 'that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.'" This is the only commandment that comes with a special promise, and it is important for children to understand the significance of obedience to their parents.
However, it is also crucial for parents to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, as instructed in Ephesians 6:4 WEB, "Fathers, don't provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord." Let us pray that these parents will be guided by the Holy Spirit in their actions and decisions, and that their child will be moved to obey and honor them, as God's word instructs.
As for the child, we pray against a spirit of rebellion and disobedience. We are reminded in Romans 13:1-2 WEB, "Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Therefore he who resists the authority, withstands the ordinance of God; and they who have withstood will receive to themselves judgment." We pray that this child will understand the importance of submission to authority, including their parents and the guidelines set by the law.
In addressing the issue of threats, it is a reminder that children are to obey their parents and not the reverse. The threat against the parents can be a sign of a deeper spiritual issue. In Ephesians 6:12 we are told, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up this family and the challenges they are facing with their child. We ask, Lord, that You would give the parents wisdom and guidance as they navigate this difficult situation. We pray that their child would be moved to obey and honor them, as Your word instructs. We ask that any spirit of rebellion or disobedience would be broken, and that this child would understand the importance of submission to authority.
We also pray for all families going through similar ordeals, that they would find peace, strength, and guidance in You. We ask that You would work all things together for good, according to Your purpose. We pray this all in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
Lastly, we praise the requester for praying in Jesus' name. As it is written in John 14:6, Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." It is only through Jesus that we have access to God, and it is only through faith in Him that we can be saved. Acts 4:12 also tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." We encourage the requester to continue praying in Jesus' name and to share the good news of salvation and life through Jesus with others.
