We understand your struggle, as it's indeed difficult to reconcile walking by faith when our senses are overwhelmed by the reality of our circumstances. However, let's consider what the Scriptures tell us about faith and the reality that God wants us to focus on.
Firstly, it's important to remember that our faith is not about denying our current reality, but rather, it's about focusing on God's greater reality. The apostle Paul tells us, For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7 WEB). This doesn't mean we ignore what's happening around us, but rather, we choose to believe in God's promises and His ultimate control over our situations.
In Hebrews 11:1, faith is defined as, Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen (WEB). Faith is not about pretending our problems don't exist; it's about believing that God is greater than our problems and that He is working out something greater than we can see.
Jesus himself, when troubles arose, didn't deny the reality of the situation, but He chose to focus on the Father and His ultimate purpose. In the garden of Gethsemane, He prayed, Saying, Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done (Luke 22:42 WEB).
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling to walk by faith in the midst of overwhelming circumstances. We ask that You would grant them a fresh revelation of Your sovereignty and Your promises. Help them to fix their eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal (2 Corinthians 4:18 WEB).
In Jesus' name, we pray for peace and strength. We rebuke the enemy's attempts to keep our friend focused on the problems rather than on Your power. We declare that no matter what they're going through, You are greater.
