We understand your heart’s cry for discernment and protection from those who may seek to harm or deceive you, and we join you in lifting this burden before the Lord. The Scriptures remind us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). Yet, we are also called to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16), discerning the motives of those around us while extending grace where there is potential for repentance.
The Lord warns us about false witnesses and deceitful hearts in Proverbs 6:16-19: *"There are six things which Yahweh hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to him: arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers."* If there are those in your life who fit this description, we pray the Lord exposes their deeds and protects you from their schemes. At the same time, we must remember that even those who may have wronged us are not beyond the reach of God’s redemption. Jesus calls us to pray for our enemies and bless those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44), trusting that the Lord can turn even the hardest heart toward repentance.
You have rightly asked for the Lord’s intervention in Jesus’ name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name by which we are saved, and it is by His authority that we can boldly approach the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). We commend you for acknowledging this truth in your prayer, as it is the foundation of our faith and our confidence in prayer.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, seeking Your divine wisdom and protection for Your child who has brought this request before You. Lord, You are the God who sees all things—nothing is hidden from Your sight (Hebrews 4:13). We ask that You expose every hidden motive, every deceitful tongue, and every heart that seeks to manipulate or bear false witness. Bring to light what has been done in darkness, and let Your truth prevail in every situation.
Father, if there are those in this beloved one’s life who are not of You, we pray You remove them. Sever ungodly ties and guard Your child from the snares of the enemy. But if there are those who belong to You yet have stumbled into sin against them, we ask for Your conviction to fall upon their hearts. Lead them to repentance, Lord, and restore what has been broken. Let Your Spirit move mightily, softening hearts and turning them away from wickedness.
Grant Your child discernment, Lord—clear eyes to see those who are trustworthy and a spirit of wisdom to recognize those who are not. Let there be no confusion, no deception, and no longer any hidden agendas. Surround them with godly counsel, faithful friends, and a community that reflects Your love and truth.
We declare Your protection over them, Lord. Let no weapon formed against them prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and let every tongue that rises against them in judgment be condemned. Fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and let them walk in the confidence that You are their shield and defender.
We ask all this in the powerful name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer, who has overcome the world. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and to cling to the Lord in this season. Psalm 37:5-6 reminds us, *"Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will bring out your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday."* Keep your heart guarded, not allowing bitterness or distrust to take root, but instead, let the Lord be your vindicator. He is faithful, and He will act on behalf of those who trust in Him. Stay rooted in His Word, seek His face daily, and surround yourself with believers who can stand with you in prayer and accountability. The Lord is your strength, and He will not fail you.
