EXPEDITED GETTING AFFAIRS IN ORDER

Leah B.

Humble Servant
Worked very hard all day trying to get rudimentary will and medical power of attorney in order. Praying that the printing and finding notary and witnesses can all be done tomorrow. Am running into obstacle after obstacle trying to get companies to cooperate and send paperwork. Please pray in Jesus's name I get what I need from these places very soon. [I'm working in pain and getting behind on my housework.] Also pray in Jesus's name I soon find a decent lawyer to continue my preliminary work, probably write a codicil or two and tie things up. Also pray in Jesus's name for guidance as to how to write or even if I should actually write a living will. The feeding tube part is so confusing. I've watched video after video. I think when a person is really, really dying, that can be cruel to force hydration and feeding tubes. It doesn't make the person live any longer and may even make them die faster and in way more pain. I think the decision to remove or place a feeding tube or not has to be prayerfully made after discussion with doctors and other health care workers. Maybe that's what I should write. I don't know, and of course I am hoping I never have to make a decision like this or have it decided for me. Anyway, again in Jesus's name, I am praying all things concerning getting final affairs in order be expedited and for guidance especially about the living will. Also praying to find good lawyer who charges reasonable fees to hand this off to and that various companies will come through soon with requested paperwork and information. Amen.

We lift you up in prayer as you diligently seek to steward the time and responsibilities God has entrusted to you. It is wise to prepare for the future while trusting in the Lord’s sovereignty over each day. We commend you for seeking His guidance in these important matters, and we join you in asking for His provision, clarity, and peace as you navigate these decisions.

The Scriptures remind us in **Proverbs 16:3**, *"Commit your works to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed."* You have worked hard, and we pray that the Lord will remove every obstacle in your path—whether it be delays with paperwork, uncooperative companies, or the search for a trustworthy and affordable lawyer. May He open doors swiftly and grant you favor with notaries, witnesses, and all who are involved in this process. We also ask that He would ease your physical pain and grant you strength to manage your household responsibilities, knowing that even in weariness, His grace is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Regarding the living will and the difficult decisions surrounding medical care, we encourage you to seek the Lord earnestly in prayer and consult with wise, godly counsel—including medical professionals who honor life as a gift from God. The question of feeding tubes and end-of-life care is deeply personal and ethically complex, but we must always remember that life is sacred, created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). While we understand your concerns about prolonging suffering, we also recognize that withholding basic sustenance can raise serious moral questions. **Job 14:5** tells us, *"Since his days are determined, the number of his months is with you. You have appointed his bounds that he can’t pass."* Ultimately, the timing of our departure belongs to the Lord, and our role is to steward our lives—and the lives of those we care for—with wisdom, compassion, and trust in His will.

We suggest that as you draft these documents, you include language that reflects a commitment to preserving life while also acknowledging the reality of suffering and the limits of medical intervention. You might consider stating that decisions should be made in consultation with trusted medical professionals and loved ones who share your faith, always seeking to honor God in the process. Pray for discernment, as **James 1:5** promises, *"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."*

It is also important to ensure that your documents align with biblical principles, particularly in appointing individuals who will act in accordance with your faith and values. If you are married, your spouse should be central in these decisions, as the two of you are called to be one flesh (Genesis 2:24). If you are not married, we pray you would seek counsel from mature believers who can offer godly wisdom and support.

We also want to encourage you not to carry this burden alone. Reach out to your church family or trusted believers who can walk alongside you, offering practical help and spiritual support. **Galatians 6:2** reminds us to *"Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."* You do not have to figure this out in isolation—the body of Christ is here to uphold you.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we lift our sister before You, asking that You would go before her in every detail of this process. Lord, You are the God of order and peace, and we ask that You would bring clarity where there is confusion, swift resolution where there are delays, and wisdom where there are difficult decisions to be made. Provide the right lawyer, one who is both competent and fair, and soften the hearts of those at the companies holding up her paperwork, that they would respond promptly and cooperatively.

Father, we ask for Your healing touch on her body, that You would ease her pain and grant her the strength she needs to accomplish what is before her. Help her to trust in You, knowing that You hold her days in Your hands. Guide her as she considers the weighty matters of a living will, that she would honor You in every word she writes and every decision she makes. Surround her with godly counsel and grant her peace that surpasses all understanding.

We rebuke any spirit of fear or overwhelm that may seek to discourage her. Instead, fill her with Your Holy Spirit, who brings comfort, conviction, and confidence in Your goodness. Remind her that her worth is not in having everything perfectly in order, but in being Your beloved child, redeemed by the blood of Jesus.

Finally, Lord, we pray that through this process, she would draw closer to You, finding rest in Your promises and hope in Your faithfulness. May she know beyond any doubt that You are with her, and that You will never leave her nor forsake her.

In the mighty and precious name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
