A Joyful Sabbath
The Sabbath is a day of joyful rest and renewal that calls you to embrace its blessings for body and soul.
We are blessed by your sharing of Exodus 14:14 which says Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still. This is a powerful promise and we hold it with you today.

We are reminded of the context in which this was spoken. The Israelites stood trapped between the army of Pharaoh and the Red Sea, with no way of escape in their own strength. Moses spoke these words to a fearful people to remind them that their deliverance would not come by their own striving but by the mighty hand of God. In the same way, when we face battles that feel overwhelming, whether spiritual, emotional, or physical, we can trust that God Himself is our defender. As it is written in Deuteronomy 20:4 for Yahweh your God is he who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you and in Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God.

To be still does not mean to be passive or to give up, but to quiet our hearts, to cease from anxious striving, and to place our full trust in Him. It is a call to surrender our fear and to rest in His sovereignty, knowing that He is faithful. We are also reminded in Isaiah 41:10 Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently share why His name is so essential. It is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. As Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me and as it is written in Acts 4:12 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. When we pray in the name of Jesus, we come under His authority and His finished work on the cross, trusting that God hears us because of Him. If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior, we encourage you to do so today, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord.

We join together with you in prayer.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, thanking You that You are the One who fights for us. We thank You that when we are weak, You are strong, and that no battle is too great for You. We ask that You help our dear friend to be still before You, to quiet every anxious thought and to rest in Your perfect peace. Strengthen their faith to trust that You are working even when they cannot see the way forward, and that You will make a way where there seems to be no way. Fill them with the assurance of Your presence and Your unfailing love. Help them to know Jesus more deeply and to walk in the confidence that they are held in Your righteous right hand. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

We're so glad you sent this verse. It often comes when the pressure feels heavy and we are tired of trying to hold everything together on our own.

Being still while the Lord fights for you does not mean you do not care or that you have given up. It is a quiet choice to trust Him with what you cannot control and to rest in His presence while He works in ways you cannot see. That kind of stillness can feel hard, especially when your thoughts want to race ahead.

One small practice that helps many is to pause when worry rises. Name the specific concern before God in a simple, honest sentence, and then intentionally step back from trying to solve it in that moment. You might write it down and leave it with Him, then turn your attention to the next faithful step in your day.

We are standing with you in this, asking God to give you peace as you wait on Him and clarity for whatever is yours to do.

Father, we lift our friend to You. You see the battle they are facing and the desire to trust You. Give them rest today, quiet their heart, and help them sense Your nearness and care. Lead them step by step according to Your will. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

This word from Exodus is a precious promise for a tried heart, The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still.

When Israel stood by the sea with no way of escape, the Lord Himself took up their cause. So it is with you. You are called not to strive in your own strength, nor to be eaten up with anxiety, but after you have done what duty requires and have fought the battle of life as God enables you, to leave the result with Him. Do the right thing and then be no longer anxious about it. Cry unto God most high, unto God that performeth all things for you, and trust Him to work in His own way and time. He is worthy of your confidence, for the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but He shall not change and His purpose shall not cease to stand.

Yet to be still before the Lord in this way you must first have peace with God. There is a false peace which comes from forgetting God, but that peace has no foundation and will not stand. True stillness comes only to the soul that is justified by faith and has peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. By His blood a covenant of peace is established and sealed, and being reconciled, the heart may rest within, knowing that the Father rules all things for good. O taste and see that the peace of God is good, for it passes all understanding and keeps the heart and mind.

He is the God of peace who created peace at the first, who restores it through the sacrifice of His Son, who preserves it in the believer, and who will at last perfect and consummate it. Messiah's errand was peace, His spirit was peace, and His blood has slain the enmity. May that same God of peace make you holy and keep you in perfect peace as your mind is stayed upon Him. To know His will and to do it is to abide in His peace, and on Jesus' bosom there is nothing but calm, even when sorrows surge round.

We pray that you will throw yourself upon the promise of God and trust the blood of Jesus Christ alone for salvation, for there is no other name by which you may be saved. Take Him at His word, believe Him, and you shall find that He will fight for you and bring you through. May the Lord bless His people with such peace, and grant you grace to keep it even to the end.

Your verse is a word of great comfort and strength, and it is good that you have brought it before the Lord. The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still.

This stillness is not idleness or despair, but faith. It is to put off anxious care and to commit all to God, trusting not in your own wisdom or strength. How great an evil it is to trust to oneself, when God Himself is ready to act for those who look up to Him. When we stir up our own anxieties we remain as those toiling in Egypt, scourged by fear and trembling. But when we groan and look up to God, He sends His Word to free us from that bitter slavery.

To be still therefore means to believe that He who made all things out of nothing, who is without beginning and sustains all things, is able to do far more than we can ask or reason. It means to remember that you are His, that you are His temple, and that His favor waits on you in every part of your way when you walk with Him. If He promises to feed and keep you from your youth up, you can be freed from all anxiety, for all things pour upon you as from fountains by His hand.

So I pray for you that the Lord will quiet your heart, that He will take the battle into His own hands which you cannot win by striving, and that He will teach you to stand firm in faith and obedience while He works. May He turn your fear into trust, your restlessness into prayer, and may you see His deliverance. May He keep you in Christ, for in Him alone is salvation, and may He grant you grace to follow Him faithfully all your days.
