We hear your heartfelt cry for your family and your commitment to fasting, and we join with you in lifting these requests before our Heavenly Father. Your desire to draw near to God through fasting is commendable, as Scripture tells us in Matthew 6:16-18, "Moreover when you fast, don’t be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face; so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you."
First, we pray for your family’s safety and well-being. Father, we ask that You would surround them with Your divine protection, both physically and spiritually. Keep them safe from harm, evil, and any plans of the enemy. Let Your angels encamp around them, as Psalm 91:11 declares, "For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways." We also pray for unity, love, and peace to reign in their hearts, that they may walk in Your ways and experience Your presence daily.
Lord, we lift up this time of fasting to You. Strengthen this brother or sister in their commitment to abstain from food and drink, that their focus may be solely on You. Help them to seek Your face, not just for personal gain, but to grow in intimacy with You. Remind them that fasting is not just about denying the flesh but about feasting on Your Word and Your presence. As Isaiah 58:6 says, "Isn’t this the fast that I have chosen: to release the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?"
Father, we also want to gently encourage this dear one to examine the purpose of their fast. Are they seeking You for direction, repentance, or breakthrough? Fasting should always be accompanied by prayer and a heart that is humble before You. Let this time be one of true surrender, where they lay down their own desires and seek Your will above all else.
We rebuke any spirit of distraction or discouragement that may try to hinder this fast. The enemy would love nothing more than to steal the focus and purpose of this sacred time. But we declare that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). We pray that this fast would break chains, bring clarity, and draw this family closer to You.
Finally, we want to remind you, dear one, that your strength comes from the Lord. Fasting can be challenging, but remember that God is your sustainer. As you deny your physical hunger, let your spiritual hunger for Him grow. Spend time in His Word, in worship, and in prayer. Let this fast be a time of renewal and transformation, where you emerge with a deeper dependence on God and a clearer vision for His purpose in your life.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the privilege of coming before You on behalf of this family. We ask that You would move mightily in their lives, protect them, and draw them closer to You. Strengthen this brother or sister as they fast, and let this time be a sweet aroma before Your throne. May they experience Your presence in a fresh and powerful way, and may their faith be strengthened as they seek You with their whole heart. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
