We lift this heartfelt plea to our Heavenly Father, acknowledging the struggle against lust and the evil influences that seek to ensnare the heart and mind. The Word of God is clear on these matters, and we stand firm on its truth as we pray and counsel.
First, we must address the battle against lust, which is a struggle many face in this fallen world. The Bible warns us in 1 Peter 2:11, "Beloved, I beg you as foreigners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul." Lust is not merely a physical temptation but a spiritual warfare that seeks to distort God’s design for purity and holiness. Jesus Himself taught in Matthew 5:28, "But I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." This is a sobering reminder that lust is not harmless—it is sin, and it separates us from the holiness God calls us to.
We also recognize the mention of the "evil eye," which in Scripture often refers to envy, jealousy, or malicious intent that can bring harm or distraction into our lives. Proverbs 23:6 warns, "Don’t eat the food of him who has a stingy eye, and don’t crave his delicacies." The evil eye can manifest as covetousness, bitterness, or even spiritual attacks meant to derail our faith. We must guard our hearts against such influences, as Proverbs 4:23 instructs, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life."
Let us now come before the throne of grace in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear one who is crying out for deliverance from lust and the evil eye. Lord, You know the depths of this struggle, and You are faithful to provide a way out, as Your Word promises in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
Father, we ask that You break the chains of lust that seek to entangle this heart. Cleanse every impure thought and desire, and replace them with a hunger for righteousness. Fill this life with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in purity and holiness, as You have called us to be holy as You are holy (1 Peter 1:16). We rebuke every spirit of lust and impurity in the name of Jesus, declaring that this one is no longer a slave to sin but a child of God, set free by the blood of Christ.
Lord, we also pray against the evil eye—every spirit of envy, jealousy, or malice that seeks to bring harm or distraction. We declare that no weapon formed against this one shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Shield their heart and mind with the armor of God, that they may stand firm against the schemes of the enemy (Ephesians 6:11). Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and Your promise to complete the good work You have begun in this life (Philippians 1:6). Strengthen them daily to resist temptation and to walk in the light of Your truth. May they find their identity and satisfaction in You alone, for You are the only source of true fulfillment.
In the precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
To the one who has made this request, we encourage you to take practical steps to guard your heart and mind. Flee from situations that tempt you to lust, whether it be certain media, environments, or relationships that do not honor God. Fill your mind with Scripture, meditating on God’s Word day and night (Psalm 1:2). Surround yourself with fellow believers who can encourage you in your walk with Christ and hold you accountable. Remember, you are not alone in this battle—God is with you, and He has already won the victory through Jesus Christ.
If you have not already, we urge you to surrender your life fully to Jesus Christ, for He is the only one who can break the power of sin and set you free. As Romans 10:9 declares, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Salvation is found in no other name, for "there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). If you have not made this decision, we pray that you would do so today, inviting Jesus to be the Lord of your life.
