We join you in earnest prayer for our government and the leaders who have been entrusted with authority, knowing that God calls us to seek the welfare of our land and its people. The Scriptures remind us in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, *"I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."* It is God who raises up leaders and removes them, and we must trust in His sovereign will even when circumstances seem uncertain.
Yet we must also remember that our ultimate hope is not in government or earthly systems, but in Christ alone. While we pray for the reopening of our government, let us also ask the Lord to soften hearts, grant wisdom to those in authority, and turn our nation back to Him in repentance. The Lord declares in 2 Chronicles 7:14, *"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."*
We also encourage you to pray not only for the government to reopen but for righteousness to prevail, for truth to be upheld, and for God’s will to be done. Let us not grow weary in prayer, for the Lord hears the cries of His people. May we also examine our own hearts, ensuring that we are walking in obedience to His Word, for true change begins with the people of God.
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up our government and its leaders. We ask for Your divine intervention, that You would bring unity where there is division, wisdom where there is confusion, and integrity where there is corruption. Lord, we pray for the reopening of our government, but more than that, we pray for a spiritual awakening across our land. Turn the hearts of our leaders—and our own hearts—back to You. Let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. May righteousness exalt our nation, and may Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. We ask this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus, our Savior and King. Amen.
