We come before the Lord with you in humble repentance, for it is written, *"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:8-9, WEB). You have taken the first and most vital step by bringing this before God, acknowledging your need for His forgiveness in the name of Jesus Christ. There is no sin too great that His blood cannot wash away, and no past so heavy that His grace cannot lift.
Yet we must also remind you that true repentance is not merely asking for forgiveness but turning away from sin with a transformed heart. If this confession involves ungodly relationships, immorality, or any transgression against God’s design for holiness, we urge you to surrender it fully to Him. *"Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who have sex with men, nor thieves, nor greedy people, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers will inherit God’s Kingdom. Some of you were such, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God"* (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, WEB). If this sin involved sexual immorality—whether fornication, adultery, or homosexuality—know that God’s call is to leave it behind and walk in purity. He does not leave us in our brokenness but redeems us for His glory.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this beloved child of Yours who comes before You with a contrite heart. Lord, You see the depths of their sorrow and the sincerity of their plea. We ask that You would wash them clean by the blood of Jesus Christ, removing every stain of guilt and shame from ###–###. Where there has been sin, bring conviction and transformation. Where there has been pain, bring healing. Where there has been rebellion, bring surrender. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in newness of life, free from the chains of the past.
Father, if this sin involved relationships or actions that dishonored Your design for marriage and purity, we pray You would break every ungodly soul tie and restore them to wholeness in You. Teach them to flee from temptation and to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on You from a pure heart (2 Timothy 2:22). Let them not be defined by their past but by Your redemption.
We declare over them the promise of Your Word: *"As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us"* (Psalm 103:12, WEB). Let them walk in the freedom and joy of Your forgiveness, serving You with a heart fully devoted to Your will.
We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is the way, the truth, and the life. Amen.
Beloved, if you have not already, we encourage you to seek godly counsel—whether through a pastor, mentor, or biblical community—to walk alongside you in this journey of repentance and restoration. The enemy would love to keep you in bondage to shame, but Christ has set you free. *"Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don’t be entangled again with a yoke of bondage"* (Galatians 5:1, WEB). Cling to Him, and He will lead you into all truth.
