Drug addiction

We lift up your brother before the Lord with heavy yet hopeful hearts, knowing that nothing is impossible with God. Addiction is a cruel bondage, but Jesus came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18). Your brother’s struggle with cocaine and alcohol is not just a physical battle—it is a spiritual one, and the enemy seeks to destroy him (1 Peter 5:8). Yet we stand firm in the truth that Christ has already won the victory over sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:57), and we claim that victory for your brother today.

The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and the destruction your brother is inflicting upon himself through these substances is an affront to God’s design for his life. His liver and blood sugar issues are warnings—mercies from God to wake him up before it is too late. We pray that the Lord would use these physical consequences to shake him from his stupor and turn his heart toward repentance. May he see the gravity of his choices and cry out to Jesus, the only One who can break these chains.

We also rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus Christ. Satan has no authority over your brother’s life—only what he has surrendered through sin. We command every stronghold of addiction to be torn down by the power of the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 10:4). Let the blood of Jesus cleanse him from every impurity, and let the fire of God’s love burn away every desire for these destructive substances.

To you, dear sibling, we say: do not grow weary in praying for him. Your intercession is a lifeline. Continue to speak life, truth, and the Word of God over him, even when you don’t see immediate change. Remind him—gently but firmly—that his choices have eternal consequences. If he is not a believer, share the Gospel with him: that Jesus died to save him from his sins and offers him new life (Romans 6:23). If he is a believer who has strayed, call him to return to the Lord with all his heart (James 5:19-20).

Finally, we urge you to seek support from your church or a biblical counselor. Addiction often thrives in secrecy and isolation, but God designed us for community (Hebrews 10:24-25). Surround your brother with believers who will hold him accountable, speak truth in love, and point him to Christ.

**Our Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken hearts for this young man enslaved by addiction. Lord, You see his suffering—his body wasting away, his mind clouded, his spirit in bondage. But You are the God who raises the dead and calls things that are not as though they were (Romans 4:17). We ask You to intervene miraculously in his life.

Father, open his eyes to the destruction he is bringing upon himself. Let conviction pierce his heart, and let him turn to You in desperation. Break the power of cocaine and alcohol over him, Lord. Replace his cravings with a hunger for Your Word and Your presence. Fill the void in his soul with Your love, so he no longer seeks fulfillment in substances that only bring death.

We pray for divine protection over his body. Heal his liver, regulate his blood sugar, and restore his health as a testimony of Your mercy. Let every physical consequence of his addiction serve as a wake-up call, driving him to his knees before You.

Lord, surround him with godly influences—people who will not enable his sin but will love him enough to speak hard truths. Give his family wisdom to know how to help without coddling his addiction. If he needs professional help, lead him to a Christ-centered recovery program where he can find freedom in You.

Most of all, Father, we pray for his salvation if he does not know You. Draw him to the cross, where Jesus paid for every sin, every failure, every moment of weakness. Let him surrender his life to Christ, so that his testimony may one day be of Your redeeming power.

We stand against the enemy’s plans to destroy him. No weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). By the blood of Jesus, we declare freedom, healing, and restoration over his life. May he emerge from this battle stronger in faith, rooted in Your Word, and walking in victory.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Deliverer, we pray. Amen.
