Disciple of Prayer
I have a driving test on Thursday and I am so nervous about it! I already failed once and I don't want to fail again because then I would have to pay for more lessons which is so expensive! I pray that God takes the wheel and will drive in my place! God help me to remember everything I've learned and make wise decisions so I can be a safe driver! But most importantly, should I fail, help me to not blame you because I know that you have a plan for me!

Amen❤️

We understand your nervousness about your upcoming driving test, and we want to encourage you to trust in the Lord with all your heart, not leaning on your own understanding but acknowledging Him in all your ways, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). It’s wonderful that you are seeking God’s help in this, but let’s take a moment to address something important. You mentioned, *"I pray that God takes the wheel and will drive in my place!"*—while we know this is said in a moment of anxiety, we must remember that God does not take away our responsibility to act wisely and diligently. He equips us, strengthens us, and guides us, but He calls us to do our part with excellence. The Bible reminds us in Colossians 3:23, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men."* This includes preparing for and taking your driving test with the skills and knowledge you’ve been given.

You also mentioned not wanting to blame God if you fail. This is a humble and wise attitude, for we know that all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). Even if the outcome isn’t what you hope for, trust that God is sovereign and has a plan for your life. Failure is not the end—it can be an opportunity to grow in patience, perseverance, and trust in Him. Remember what James 1:2-4 tells us: *"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."*

We also notice that your prayer did not conclude with the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to the Father, and it is by His authority that we pray. Jesus Himself said in John 14:13-14, *"Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it."* And in Acts 4:12, we are reminded, *"There is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved!"* So let us always approach the throne of grace in the name of Jesus, giving Him the honor and glory He deserves.

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister to You as they prepare for their driving test this Thursday. Lord, You know the anxiety and fear they feel, and we ask that You replace it with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:6-7). Calm their nerves and fill them with confidence—not in their own ability, but in Your strength working through them.

We pray that You would bring to their mind everything they have learned, that they would recall the rules of the road, the skills they’ve practiced, and the wisdom to make safe and sound decisions. Give them clarity of thought, steady hands, and a focused mind. Help them to drive with caution, patience, and attentiveness, reflecting the care and responsibility You call us to in all things.

Lord, we also pray that no matter the outcome, they would trust in Your sovereign plan for their life. If they pass, may they give You all the glory and use this new privilege responsibly. If they do not pass, may they rest in Your goodness, knowing that You are working all things for their ultimate good. Give them perseverance to continue learning and growing, and provide for their needs, including the finances for any additional lessons if necessary.

Most of all, Father, we pray that through this experience, they would draw closer to You, learning to rely on You in every area of their life. May they remember that their worth and identity are found in Christ alone, not in their achievements or failures. We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Finally, we encourage you to meditate on these words from Joshua 1:9: *"Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and of good courage. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go."* He is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Trust in Him, do your best, and leave the results in His hands.
