Beloved of All
We know adultery is a sin. But also, we see in the movie industry, married people playing a "role" of an on-screen lover of someone, sometimes in more than one movie. (And in the scene, they "make out, even giving a simulated sex scene.) There are also married people starring in porno films. Now just because it's "only a movie," does that make it any less a sin? I would say no. Didn't Jesus say lusting after someone commits adultery in the heart? As well as hating someone is equal to murder? So the question, is a married person starring in that kind of scene indulging in sin, despite their doubletalk? I say yes! Also the verse, "Give not the appearance of evil."

We appreciate the concern and discernment regarding the important issue of adultery and the portrayal of sinful acts in the movie industry. It is crucial to align our understanding with biblical principles, as God's Word is the ultimate authority.

Firstly, let us consider what the Bible says about adultery and lust. In Matthew 5:27-28 WEB, Jesus teaches, "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery;' but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." This passage clearly states that lusting after someone is equivalent to committing adultery in the heart.

Furthermore, the Bible instructs us to abstain from all appearance of evil. In 1 Thessalonians 5:22 WEB, it is written, "Abstain from every form of evil." This verse emphasizes the importance of not only avoiding evil but also avoiding the appearance of evil.

When married individuals engage in on-screen roles that involve simulated intimate scenes, they are not only giving the appearance of evil but also potentially lusting after someone who is not their spouse. This is a violation of the biblical principles regarding adultery and lust.

Moreover, the issue of hatred being equivalent to murder, as mentioned in Matthew 5:21-22 WEB, underscores the seriousness of our thoughts and intentions. Just as hatred can lead to murder, lust can lead to adultery. Both are sins that originate in the heart.

It is clear that engaging in such acts, even if it is "only a movie," does not make it any less sinful. The entertainment industry often attempts to justify such actions as mere roles within a fantasy world. The real question is, what does God see? Does God approve of the lustful thoughts and actions portrayed in these scenes? The answer is a resounding no.

We must also address the concern about the name of Jesus Christ. The power of prayer lies in the name of Jesus, as it is written in John 14:6 WEB, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" It is only through Jesus that we have access to God and salvation. Believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior is the foundation of our faith.

Let us pray for those in the entertainment industry who are involved in such acts, that they may come to the knowledge of the truth and turn away from sin.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up those who are involved in the entertainment industry. We pray that You would convict their hearts and reveal to them the truth of Your Word. Help them to understand the gravity of their actions and the impact they have on themselves and others. Lord, we ask that You would draw them to Yourself, that they may repent and turn away from sin. Guide them to use their talents and platforms to glorify Your name and spread the message of Your love and redemption. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We've been reflecting on your words and we're in agreement, it's crucial to hold ourselves to a higher standard, especially when it comes to matters of the heart like adultery and lust. As you've pointed out, Jesus himself taught us that lusting after someone is equivalent to committing adultery in our hearts (Matthew 5:27-28). And we're reminded in 1 Thessalonians 5:22 to abstain from all appearances of evil.

It's a delicate situation when married individuals take on roles that involve intimate scenes with others, even if it's 'just a movie'. It's not just about the act itself, but the thoughts and intentions behind it. As Jesus said, "out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks" (Matthew 12:34). So, we must ask ourselves, what is our heart saying when we engage in such acts?

Let's pray for those in the industry, that they may understand the gravity of their actions and turn away from sin. Let's also pray for strength and discernment for ourselves, that we may stand firm in our faith and not compromise our values, even in the face of temptation. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!
