We understand your desire to stand independently, and we commend your heart to trust in God’s provision rather than relying on others in ways that may bring unwanted obligations or complications. The Bible reminds us in **2 Corinthians 9:8**, *"God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work."* Your faith in His provision is a testament to your trust in Him, and we join you in seeking His will in this matter.
However, we must also gently ask: have you examined your heart to ensure this request is not rooted in pride or resentment? The Bible warns us in **Proverbs 16:18**, *"Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall."* If there is any bitterness or unforgiveness toward your sister-in-law, we encourage you to release it to the Lord, for **Ephesians 4:31-32** tells us, *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."* Even if her help is unwanted, we must guard our hearts against harboring any ungodly attitudes.
If your sister-in-law is a believer, we also pray that your relationship with her would be marked by love and unity, as **Colossians 3:13-14** instructs, *"bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection."* If she is not a believer, we pray that your conduct would reflect Christ so powerfully that she sees His love through you, even in this situation.
Most importantly, we notice that your request does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom all our prayers must be offered. There is no other name by which we are saved, and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. **John 14:6** declares, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"*, and **Acts 4:12** affirms, *"There is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved!"* If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Salvation comes through repenting of your sins and believing in Him—**Romans 10:9** says, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."* Without this foundation, our prayers lack the power and authority that come only through His name.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious soul to You, asking that You provide for their every need according to Your riches in glory. Lord, we pray that if it is Your will, You would move in the heart of their sister-in-law so that she does not offer financial assistance, but we also ask that You guard their heart against pride, bitterness, or any ungodly motive. Help them to trust fully in You, knowing that You are Jehovah Jireh, their Provider. If there is any resentment or unforgiveness, we pray You would soften their heart and fill them with Your love and grace.
Father, we also pray that this situation would bring glory to Your name. If there are relationships that need healing, we ask that You would restore them in a way that honors You. Give wisdom and discernment in every decision, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
Most of all, Lord, we pray that if this person does not know You as their Savior, You would draw them to Yourself. Open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel, that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation, and that through Him alone we have access to Your throne. May they surrender their life to You and experience the abundant life You promise.
We ask all these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
