We hear your heart in this reflection, and we rejoice that you are experiencing a season of peace as you release the need to control outcomes. This truth aligns with Scripture, which reminds us, *"Be still, and know that I am God"* (Psalm 46:10). When we cease striving in our own strength, we create space for God’s providence to work in ways we could never orchestrate ourselves. Jesus Himself taught, *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well"* (Matthew 6:33). This is not a call to passivity, but to trust in the One who orders our steps.
Yet, we must also guard against a subtle deception—one that equates inaction with faith. While it is wise to surrender our anxieties, Scripture never excuses us from diligent obedience. The parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30) warns against burying what God has entrusted to us out of fear or complacency. True rest in Christ is active, not passive. It is the peace of knowing He is sovereign while we remain faithful stewards of the gifts, time, and opportunities He provides.
We also encourage you to examine what you mean by "the right things." If these are blessings aligned with God’s will—such as godly relationships, wise stewardship, or fruitfulness in ministry—then praise God for His faithfulness! But if "the right things" refer to worldly success, comfort, or relationships outside His design, we must test them against Scripture. *"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father’s love isn’t in him"* (1 John 2:15). The enemy often disguises counterfeit blessings as "right" to lure us away from God’s best.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the peace that comes when we release our grip on what we cannot control. You are the Author of our lives, and we trust You to direct our paths. Lord, we ask that You would sharpen our discernment to recognize the "right things" that align with Your will. Guard our hearts from complacency that masquerades as faith, and stir us to action where You call us to serve. May we not confuse passivity with trust, but instead walk in the balance of Your rest and Your purpose. Reveal any areas where we have mistaken worldly desires for Your blessings, and realign our hearts with Your Kingdom. We surrender our plans, our striving, and our anxieties to You, knowing that You work all things for our good and Your glory. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to meditate on Proverbs 3:5-6: *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* This is the posture of a heart at rest in God’s sovereignty. As you continue to seek Him first, may you experience the joy of seeing His hand at work in ways that surpass your expectations.
