Does Man Have Free Will

I have been asked by a few to teach on the subject of Free will. We hear people say all the time that man has free will, you cannot pray for this or that, even if it is something that Gods word commands for us, because the other person has free will. God is not going to force your will, or His will, on someone else. Marriage standers deal with these type of comments often. You should just give up and move on, because your spouse has free will and God is not going to force His will on your spouse.

I dealt with the question of "free will" long ago with God. Here is what He told me and showed me concerning free will. God explained to me that every man, woman, is born with free will. He, God, created everything, this world, man, and He even created the wicked for a day of wickedness. He also created a plan, a salvation plan, available to every human that He created, a way out of the wickedness of His enemy. We all know what the plan is, salvation through Christ. God says,

Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Rev 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Joh 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

So, as God showed me, man and woman come into this world with free will. It was not always so though. God only created us for one purpose, to be His people. Adam and Eve were His people, God created them for Himself. He also instructed them what they could and could not do, His will. He enforced His will in His creation. He was in control. Then as we know satan, the serpent, enticed Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit God told them they could not eat. She then offered the fruit to Adam, who was the head of Eve, and Adam made a conscious choice to eat of that fruit, exerting his own will over Gods will and command, His order to not eat it. Because Adam exerted his own will over Gods will and command, God cursed him. We entered into a new condition of free will and the enemy of God having access to us to influence us. I want you to really grasp this, because Adam exerted his will, because satan influenced Eve to partake of something God commanded not be done, from that point on satan had access to continue influencing mankind and we were cursed to have freewill and choose who to follow.

So then God tried many different ways to get His creation to obey Him, to choose Him and not be influenced by satan, but man just continued to become corrupted, and that is still true to this day, mankind has become more and more corrupt through the years to this point and still. However, back then man was back and forth, back and forth. Look at the Israelites coming out of Egypt. Amazing manifestations of God, yet despite that at every turn in the road, they whined, they complained, they turned to creating golden idols, and ultimately they ended up wandering around in the wilderness for forty years because of it, and the majority of them were not allowed to enter into the promise land, God just got His fill to be honest about it. Nothing was working with those stiff necked people. Every other day Gods people were having to sacrifice animals to God to be forgiven, humorously one cannot help but think that Gods supply of animals were running pretty thin actually.

So God got a plan! Oh yea! God sent a miracle baby to earth, and that baby, Jesus, was the last sacrifice offering needed to seal man unto God once and for all. The ultimate solution had arrived and been performed. Now, man had free will to accept or refuse that plan, that gift of salvation by accepting Jesus Christ, believing in Him, knowing that it is true, He came, He died with the sin of mankind taken upon Himself, He rose and He ascended to the Father. He knocks on the door of every mans heart. His Holy Spirit goes forth and knocks, seeking to be let in, seeking to be accepted by every man. The man has the free will to decide if he will open the door or keep it closed and locked. Once again,

Now, Jesus knocks on the door of a mans heart. The man opens the door and lets Jesus in. Then what happens?

Ephesians 1:13 “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.†2 Corinthians 1:21 “Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a deposit.†Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. “Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.†(2 Corinthians 5:5 ) Yes, God was not messing around anymore!

As we see, Jesus knocked, the man responded, opened the door, accepted Jesus, believes with his heart that Jesus came, died, rose, ascended and saved him, and sealed him. He became a marked man. Does this mean the man will not sin, will not do a 180 and try to run back the other way? No, but he is marked man now, so he can run but he just cant hide.

(Heb 13:5 KJV) Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. Joh 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. Joh 10:30 I and my Father are one. (John 6:39 KJV) And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

Let me repeat for you more pointedly, "ye (they) are sealed unto the day of redemption, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand, My Father is greater then all and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand, all which he hath given me I should lose nothing". So what does that exactly mean concerning free will. If you think or someone tells you it means that you can run around sinning, chasing after the devil, do his bidding, and you have a get out of jail free card, you are highly mistaken. It does not mean you can go back to acting like a heathen, exerting your free will to do so, and its okay, you are sealed and going to Heaven anyway. Absolutely not!

1Co 6:7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

1Co 6:8 Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.

1Co 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 1Co 6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

1Co 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

So then we have a man or woman that is saved and sealed, no one can remove him from the hand of God, but then he does a 180 and leaves his wife, runs off with another woman and is in adultery now, and foolish man thinks he is okay because he is a christian, he is still going to Heaven anyway, however there are no get out of jail free cards with God.

Since we are looking at a case of adultery here, lets look it it further. God says, Pro 5:3 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: Pro 5:4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword. Pro 5:5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. Pro 5:11 And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed, Pro 5:21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings. Pro 5:22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. Pro 6:26 For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life. Pro 6:27 Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Pro 6:28 Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? Pro 6:32 But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. Pro 7:22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks; Pro 7:23 Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life. Pro 7:24 Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth. Pro 7:25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths. Pro 7:26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her. Pro 7:27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

You see friends, if God allowed man to have his free will after being saved and sealed unto Himself, then many a man would be removed from the hand of Christ. So then, what happens?

God goes after them is what happens! If He didn't, then His word about "My Father is greater then all and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand" would be a lie, and Num 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Joh 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Mat 18:11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. Mat 18:12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? Mat 18:13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.

Luk 15:11 And he said, A certain man had two sons: Luk 15:12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. Luk 15:13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. Luk 15:14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. Luk 15:15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. Luk 15:16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. Luk 15:17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! Luk 15:18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

I call it the wilderness adventure my friends. God takes the sinner on a little trip, right into the hog pen of life. It is not pretty there, in fact it is pretty rough. They go out from God into sin, into riotous living, but God has His eye and His hand on them, and life gets real bad in the wilderness, as the Israelites can attest to. Famine, plunder. It gets so bad that the sealed sinner comes into his own finally, and he turns back and heads home, broken, a Godly sorrow. "Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death" (2 Cor. 7:9-10).

What I am imparting here is this. Man is born into the free will to do as he likes, including accepting Christ as his Savior. Once he opens that door however, and lets Jesus in, he becomes sealed to Christ. If God let the man have his free will after he is sealed, then God would be a liar, because man would run amuck, chase after the devils follies and put himself into a sin unto death condition, . No man sealed unto Christ will ever exert his free will over Gods will. Did you pay attention and notice that the word of God says No man will remove, "My Father is greater then all and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand" It does not say no satan, no devil, no demon, it says "NO MAN". Satan already knows that he cannot pluck anything out of Gods hands. No man means no man, not even "the" man himself.

When God explains things to me, it is not just what He tells me, combined with what He shows me as well, but it seems that He can always put me right in the fire of it. Seems He always puts me in the test fire and then after it is all over with and down the road from me, then He comes to me and He says remember when..I allowed that, allowed you to do that, go through that? I did that so that when I now come to impart this to you, you have understanding of what I am telling you, because I showed it to you back there personally. I am a christian that went into a sin unto death. I did not just do a little 180 spin and chased after some demon influenced temptation, I boldly jumped out of His hand and declared I did not want Him anymore, and made a mad dash. I was so angry at God that I tried to bargin sell my soul to the devil. God let me get away with it for a season, and then I came to my own with a 38 special to my head, which is just another story, my testimony, but suffice it to say that God comes after what belongs to Him, and I was He came after, so I know. I will explain my little wilderness adventure more in another post in a bit.
