Proverbs 29:18


Please pray in Jesus name that the former landlord submits to God and accepts divine guidance. He and the people around him have been really wild and disrespectful, and they have caused a lot of trouble.

We join you in seeking the Lord together in Jesus' name and we thank you for bringing this burden before Him. We agree with you that without divine guidance hearts run wild, and we have seen how true the wisdom of Proverbs 29:18 is, Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed.

It grieves us to hear how your former landlord and those around him have been wild and disrespectful and have caused so much trouble. Such behavior does not reflect the character God calls us to, for He calls all people to walk in humility, respect, and love for neighbor. We are reminded that God desires all people to come to repentance and to submit to His guidance, and that He is patient and merciful even toward those who act in rebellion.

We also take comfort that you asked this in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. As it is written in John 14:6, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We rejoice that you are coming to God through Christ.

Let us pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We lift up this former landlord and the people around him to You. Lord, we ask that You soften his heart and draw him to Yourself, that he would submit to You and accept Your divine guidance. Where there has been wildness, bring Your order and peace. Where there has been disrespect and trouble, bring conviction of sin and a desire for righteousness. We pray that You would open his eyes to see his need for Your law and Your grace, and that he would turn from his ways and obey You and find the joy that comes from walking in Your truth.

We also pray for Your protection and peace over the one who brought this request. Grant wisdom and divine guidance in how to respond to this difficult situation, and help us to not be overcome by evil but to overcome evil with good as taught in Romans 12:21, Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Help us to remember the call in Matthew 5:44, But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. Give a spirit of forgiveness and yet also of wisdom to set proper boundaries and to seek peace as far as it depends on us, for Romans 12:18 says If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. And we leave room for Your justice, for Romans 12:19 reminds us, Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.

Lord, we ask that You would guide all steps, bring resolution to any lingering trouble from this tenancy, and let Your will be done. We trust in Your promise in Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

We thank You that You hear our prayers when we pray according to Your will and in the name of Jesus. We trust You to work in this landlord's heart and to bring peace where there has been strife. We wait on You with hope and we rest in Your perfect guidance.

We hear how wearying it is when someone who had authority over your home acts wild and disrespectful and leaves trouble behind. It can feel unsettled long after the tenancy ends, and we are grateful you brought this to prayer instead of carrying it alone.

We are praying with you that your former landlord would be open to God's guidance and choose a more respectful, peaceable way forward, and that those around him would do the same. We are also praying for your own peace and protection as you move forward, that you would have wisdom to know when to engage and when to step back, and that this situation would not take up more of your heart than it needs to.

One small step that often helps in ongoing landlord tensions is to keep communication brief, written and factual when you must have it, and to let a trusted third party or appropriate local channel help if issues continue. It keeps things clearer and less personally draining while you leave the larger change in God's hands.

Father, we lift this former landlord and his circle to You, asking that You draw him toward Your wisdom and teach him a better way. Guard our friend from further trouble, give calm and good judgment in each interaction, and settle this matter in Your perfect way. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a faithful word you have set before us, that where there is no vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he that keeps the law. Your prayer is right and according to the mind of God, that this man should be brought out of darkness into light.

God is light, and in him is no darkness at all, and consequently he cannot have fellowship with darkness. As the thrice Holy One he can hold no communion with iniquity. He never misrepresents, nor has fellowship with misrepresentation, but deals with things in the light, treating them as they are. If this former landlord and those about him have run wild and dealt disrespectfully and caused trouble, they have walked in darkness, and we must pray that they may be made to stand in the light and present themselves before God as they are, seeing sin in themselves and feeling the blood of Jesus Christ cleansing them therefrom.

By nature we are possessed with devilish vices and lusts, which if they do not distress and vex our bodies, will most certainly destroy our souls. The evil one perverts the truth and would keep men in their wildness. Our business is not with self, but Christ. Only Christ can cast out the destroyer and make the lion to lie down as a lamb and the raven to become a dove. When God works such a change, a man will hate sin with perfect hatred and have no fellowship with it.

Let us pray together in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation.

O Lord our God, who art light, look upon this man who has walked without divine guidance. Convict him of his wild and disrespectful ways, and show him his need of a Saviour. Bring him to stand honestly in Thy light, confessing his sin without excuse. By Thy Spirit, subdue his heart, that he may submit himself unto Thee and accept Thy gracious guidance. Turn him from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that he may receive forgiveness of sins through faith in Jesus Christ. Make him a new creature, that he may walk in obedience and find that joyful life which belongs to those who keep Thy law. And for those whom he has troubled, bring healing to the wounded and bind up the broken in heart, for Thou healest with downy fingers and with soft and winning kindness. Restrain all that is wild and unruly, and let Thy peace rule. We ask this not because any are worthy, but because Jesus Christ has suffered and can sympathize with those who are tried, and has shed His blood to cleanse from all sin.

Take comfort, and continue to walk yourself in the light with Him. Communion is ours by personal union with the Lord Jesus. Speak with Him in prayer, and hear Him speak through the Word, and keep yourself distinct from the society of those who love darkness, while still pitying them and seeking their good. He who made His own people to go forth like sheep will fetch out His own and will deal graciously with all who come to Him through Christ. Trust Him to deal with all His adversaries in righteousness, and to keep you in perfect peace as you obey His law.
