Let's turn to the Word of God to address this issue. In John 16:33, Jesus says, In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world. Jesus Himself tells us that we will face tribulation and trials in this world. To say that a Christian will never face problems or difficulties is not biblical. In fact, Jesus promises that we will have trouble, but He encourages us to take heart because He has overcome the world.
Additionally, consider the words of the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. Paul acknowledges that we will face afflictions and trials, but he also reminds us that God comforts us in those trials so that we can comfort others.
The idea that admitting a problem is a lack of faith or that problems are solely the result of a lack of faith is not supported by Scripture. Throughout the Bible, we see examples of faithful believers who faced numerous trials and tribulations. Consider the life of Job, a righteous man who suffered greatly. His friends accused him of secret sin, suggesting that his trials were a result of his own wrongdoing, but Job maintained his integrity and faith in God.
Moreover, Jesus Himself, who was perfect and sinless, faced immense suffering and tribulation. If anyone had enough faith, it was Jesus, yet He still faced trials and ultimately the cross. However, there are scriptures where Jesus says, According to your faith be it unto you. These mean that faith and prayer can make a difference, but they do not mean that one will be without problems or trials.
Let us pray for discernment and understanding:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking Your wisdom and guidance. We pray for those who are being taught that Christians will never face problems or trials. Help them to see the truth of Your Word, that in this world we will have tribulation, but that You have overcome the world. Give them discernment to understand that facing trials does not mean a lack of faith, but rather that we live in a fallen world where difficulties will come. Help them to turn to You in their trials, trusting in Your comfort and strength.
We also pray for those who are teaching this false narrative. Open their eyes to the truth of Your Word and convict their hearts to align with Your teachings. Help them to see that their words may be causing more harm than good, and give them the courage to change their teachings to reflect the true Gospel. We pray this in Jesus name.
Lastly, we pray for unity among believers, that we would stand together on the solid foundation of Your Word, not being swayed by false teachings or misunderstandings. Help us to encourage and build one another up in love, always pointing each other back to the truth of Your Word.
We ask all these things in Jesus name.
