A Hard Life

Sparrows Divinely Fed
We have heard your heart and we are bringing your burdens before the Lord together with you, for we know you have been carrying heavy loneliness, tears, and a longing for a stable home for you and your cats, for dignified work where you are treated as an equal and loved, and for peace from those who have bullied and mistreated you.

We want to gently speak truth in love about the way you are claiming Deuteronomy 28:13. That verse says Yahweh will make you the head, and not the tail, and you will be above only, and you will not be beneath, if you listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God. This is a precious promise given to obedient Israel, and by grace we as believers share in God's favor through Christ, but it is not a formula where repeating a phrase greatly or speaking life into existence one hundred fold compels God to give us whatever location or outcome we name. Our words do have power, as Proverbs 18:21 says death and life are in the power of the tongue, but we cannot control God by declarations. We trust His sovereign will, praying as Jesus taught, Your Kingdom come. Your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth Matthew 6:10, and If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that James 4:15. We do pray with you for God's will greatly, not our own demands, believing Romans 8:28 that God works all things together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.

We also grieve with you over the feelings of being abused, controlled, called a freak, and crying yourself to sleep in hopelessness. The Lord sees every tear and is near to you. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18, and we cast all our worries on him, because he cares for us 1 Peter 5:7. When our heart is overwhelmed, we cry to God who will lead us to the rock that is higher than we are Psalm 61:2. We pray that He will heal your broken heart and bind up your wounds Psalm 147:3, and that He will lift the oppression you feel from bullying and from any spiritual attack of the enemy, for our adversary prowls as a roaring lion 1 Peter 5:8, but greater is He who is in us.

We lift up your desire for work and a home. We agree with you that honest work is good and honors God, and we pray that God will open a door for suitable employment in the place He chooses, whether in another state or where you are, and that He will provide a safe place to stay for you and your cats, for our Father knows what we need and He even feeds the animals, as Psalm 147:9 says He provides food for the livestock, and for the young ravens when they call, and how much more does He care for you. We claim Matthew 6:33 that if we seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, all these things will be given to us as well, and Philippians 4:19 that our God will supply every need of ours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. We pray your labor would be done heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23.

Concerning the government and the struggle over Social Security, disability, Section 8, and help with housing, we understand your exhaustion from fighting systems and feeling attacked, and we want to encourage you to not live in fear or see the government as your enemy. God calls us to pray for authorities and to trust Him above any system, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God Romans 13:1. We pray for favor and peace in every interaction, and for wisdom whether to pursue help again or to walk in the strength God has given you to work, and we rejoice that you desire a normal, healthy life and to take care of yourself and your cats.

We must also lovingly address what you shared about medication and about doing it on green. We are glad you have found some help with vitamins and feel more naturally well, and we thank God for every good gift that sustains health, yet we must caution you that our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, and we are called to be sober-minded and self-controlled. If green refers to marijuana or any intoxicating substance to self-medicate, we urge you to turn from that path, for it does not bring true healing and can open doors to further bondage and cloud sober judgment which God desires for us. We encourage you to seek wise, godly counsel and trustworthy medical advice when possible, and above all to rely on the Lord for peace and strength, not on any substance. We pray God will give you clarity, genuine health, and freedom from dependence on anything that would harm your body or spirit, and that you would not have to fight alone to get care.

Regarding your longing for a man to stay with you, we hear your desire for companionship and love, and we pray with you for God's best. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman as God designed from the beginning, therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and they shall be one flesh Genesis 2:24. We encourage you not to seek simply a guy to live with, but to pray for a godly husband through biblical courtship that leads to marriage with a fellow believer in Christ, if it is God's will for you to marry. Living together outside of marriage or any sexual intimacy before or outside marriage is fornication and does not honor God, as the body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord 1 Corinthians 6:18. We pray that whether God keeps you content in singleness for a season or leads you to a faithful Christian husband, you will be guarded in purity and will seek a relationship that honors Christ and leads to covenant marriage. We are thankful you mentioned the blood of Jesus, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, as Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in no other name Acts 4:12.

We pray together now in Jesus' name that the hopelessness and crying at night would end and be replaced by God's peace and joy, that the Lord would establish you as one loved and valued in Christ, not a freak but fearfully and wonderfully made Psalm 139:14, that He would protect you from bullying and from every scheme of Satan, that He would guide your steps about moving and provide work and housing according to His perfect will, that He would provide for your cats and for all your needs, that He would keep you healthy in body, mind, and spirit and help you walk in sobriety and wisdom, and that He would fulfill His plans for you, for we know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. We ask that you would be content yet hopeful, trusting that He will never leave you nor forsake you Hebrews 13:5, and that your delight in Him would shape the desires of your heart Psalm 37:4. We commit you into the loving hands of our Father, asking all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We hear how weary you are and how much you want a fresh start. Longing to be treated as an equal, to be liked and cared for, to have steady work and a safe home for you and your cats, and to stop going to sleep in tears is deeply human. Carrying that loneliness and feeling controlled and bullied for so long would leave anyone feeling hopeless and on edge.

We are encouraged by the way you are trying to take care of yourself and your cats and to keep moving toward a steadier, healthier life on your own. Wanting to work, to be stable, and to live in peace without constant conflict makes sense, and it is understandable that navigating help with housing and benefits has felt chaotic and discouraging.

A gentle next step might be to narrow your focus just a little while you pray for direction. If one of the places you mentioned feels most possible, you could look at one trusted job site for that area and make a short list of what housing there allows cats. If you have a pastor, counselor, or trusted friend, invite them to look with you so you are not carrying all the decisions alone. And since you mentioned not being able to get medication refilled and now using vitamins, we encourage you to check in with a doctor or clinic about your health alongside prayer, so you have support as you plan.

We are praying for you.

Father, in Jesus' name we ask You to draw near to our friend in loneliness and give wisdom for each decision about work and a home. Provide safety and dignity, care for daily needs, and lead to community where Your love is known. Give rest from tears and hope for the days ahead. Amen.

Your words carry the weight of long tears and weary nights, and the Lord does not overlook them. He sees those who cry themselves to sleep and feel hopeless and hard pressed, and there is a Mercy Seat to go to and the bosom of Christ to fly to. The fear of the Lord does not drive you from Him, it drives you to Him, and when it drives you to Him you have got a place of refuge.

You have quoted Deuteronomy 28 verse 13, I am the head and not the tail. That promise was given to Israel under the covenant at Sinai, a picture of blessing for obedience, and it finds its true fullness not in a formula to claim a hundredfold by repeating words greatly, but in Christ Himself. In Him we are blessed with every spiritual blessing, and whether He appoints us a high place or a low place, our confidence is that this same Jesus has risen from the dead and lives to plead for us. How can we help having confidence when we hear His mighty pleas ever speaking in our favor. So we do not look to a phrase spoken into existence, we look unto Him and are saved, for He has said, Look unto Me and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God and there is none else. To look away from self and away from striving and to look to what Christ has done is the way of peace.

I hear your longing for a new place, for work in another state, for a home where you and your cats can dwell in quiet, for deliverance from being controlled and bullied and made to feel like a freak, for an end to fighting with systems that seem to attack you. It is right to desire honest work and a peaceful habitation and to be treated with dignity as one made in the image of God. The Lord knows your need for shelter and daily bread and meaningful labor, and He honors diligence and quiet faithfulness. Pray that He will open a door for work that fits your strength and that He will provide a dwelling according to His wisdom, and meanwhile seek the counsel of a faithful local church where you can be known and loved and treated as an equal in Christ, not as one controlled by an app or by the cruelty of others. He can deliver from the power of darkness and from the fascinating power of sin and oppression, for deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin.

You speak of weariness with the government and with seeking disability and Section 8 and medication that you could not get refilled for a year. It is understandable to be exhausted by long waiting and by doors that do not open. You say you have found vitamins and that you are naturally okay and you speak of green as a substitute for medication. I would urge you with care to seek wise and godly counsel for your body as well as your soul, from trusted medical help and from mature believers, and not to turn to what may harm you or entangle you while seeking relief. Your body is not your enemy, and the Lord would have you steward it with sobriety and clarity. If disability help does come, receive it with thankfulness, if not, commit your way to honest work as you are able, trusting that God will not forsake His own even when fields seem to yield no meat and the flock is cut off from the fold.

You also share that you have made peace with being alone for years and that you have hoped to find a man who might stay with you. The desire for companionship is deeply human, and the Lord is not unkind toward it. Yet Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that living together and the union of the body belong within that covenant alone. For that reason I cannot affirm or ask God to bless living together outside of marriage, but I can pray that if it be His will He would bring into your life a godly husband who will love you faithfully within holy marriage, and that until and unless He does, He will keep you in purity and give you contentment and community in His family. To seek a man to stay with you apart from that covenant would not lead to the lasting peace you long for. Seek first to be kept close to Christ, and trust Him with this tender part of your heart.

There is hope for one who feels brought to the edge of the pit. Just as a man seemed about to be dragged down, a voice came from the excellent Glory, Deliver him from going down to the pit. That voice you shall always hear if you are a child of God, when you get into a fix, when you are brought into peril and trouble. God has given commandment to save you and you shall be saved, saved from yourself and from all the attacks of your old sins, saved from the devil. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, who bore the cup and rose again, and who now pleads for all who come to God by Him.

May the Lord lift you up in this night and give you a calm and true conclusion from faith in God, to say with the psalmist, I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord. The Lord has chastened us sorely at times, but He has not given us over unto death, and life and health often come through briny tears and the bruising of the flesh.

I pray for you that God would grant you quiet sleep without weeping, steady work for your hands, a safe home for you and the creatures He has entrusted to your care, deliverance from oppression and from every attack of the enemy, wisdom for your health, peace with those in authority where it can be had, and above all a deeper fellowship with Jesus Christ who is your head and your life. May you be kept from going down to the pit, and may you live to declare His works. Amen.
