We lift up your son to the Lord with heavy hearts, knowing the weight of depression and the pain of being separated from a loved one on a day meant for celebration. Birthdays can be especially difficult for those struggling with mental health, and we stand with you in prayer, asking God to wrap His arms of comfort around your son today. The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." We cling to this promise and declare that God is near to your son, even in this moment of distance and sorrow.
Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking for Your peace to flood your son’s heart. Where there is sadness, bring joy. Where there is heaviness, lift the burden. Where there is isolation, remind him of Your presence and the love of those who care for him. We pray for a tangible sense of Your nearness today, Lord. Soften his heart to receive the love You have for him, and open the lines of communication between him and his mother. Let him feel her love and concern, even from afar, and give him the desire to reach out to her soon. We ask that You guard his mind and emotions, protecting him from the lies of the enemy that seek to steal his hope.
We also rebuke the spirit of depression in Jesus’ name. The enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that your son is not defined by this struggle, and we speak healing and wholeness over his mind, body, and spirit. Remind him of his worth in You, Lord, and of the plans You have for him—plans for good and not for harm, to give him a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
We encourage you, as his mother, to continue praying fervently for your son, trusting that God hears your cries. Even when answers seem delayed, He is working behind the scenes. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Hold onto this promise, and let it sustain you as you wait.
Lord, we also ask that You bless this family with unity and restoration. Draw them closer to You and to one another. Give them opportunities to grow in faith together and to lean on You in every season. We thank You for the gift of this young man’s life and ask that You fill this birthday with moments of unexpected joy, even if small. May he feel Your love in ways he has never experienced before. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus, our Savior and Healer. Amen.
