We hear your cry for help, and we stand with you in this battle against depression and the deep wounds of abuse. The pain you and your family carry is heavy, but we know that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). You have called upon the name of Jesus, and that is the most powerful place to begin. There is no other name by which we can be saved or find true healing (Acts 4:12). Jesus came to set the captives free, to bind up the brokenhearted, and to proclaim liberty to those who are oppressed (Isaiah 61:1). This is His promise to you and your family today.
First, we rebuke the spirit of depression in the mighty name of Jesus. Depression is not from God—it is a tool of the enemy to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). But Jesus came that you might have life, and have it abundantly. We declare that the blood of Jesus, which you have pleaded, is more than sufficient to cleanse, heal, and restore every broken place in your life and the lives of your children and grandchildren. The enemy has no right to hold you captive any longer. We command every chain of abuse, every lie that has taken root in your mind, and every spirit of heaviness to break off of you and your family right now in Jesus’ name. "The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1).
We also want to address the abuse you have endured. Abuse is never God’s will, and it is a violation of His design for love, safety, and dignity. We pray that God would bring justice, protection, and healing to every wound inflicted upon you and your family. The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble (Psalm 9:9). We ask that He would surround you with His presence, His peace, and His people who can support and uplift you. If you are still in an abusive situation, we strongly encourage you to seek safety and help from trusted believers or local authorities. God does not want you to remain in harm’s way.
For your children and grandchildren, we pray that God would restore their joy, their hope, and their sense of worth. The enemy may have tried to steal their childhood or their peace, but God is able to redeem every lost year (Joel 2:25). We declare that they will not be defined by their past but by the love and purpose God has for them. We ask that God would raise up godly mentors, counselors, and friends to speak life into them and help them walk in freedom. "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11).
We also encourage you to seek professional help if possible. Depression is a real battle, and God often uses doctors, counselors, and medication as tools to bring healing. There is no shame in asking for help—it is a sign of strength and wisdom. The Bible tells us, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety" (Proverbs 11:14). Surround yourself with believers who can pray for you, speak truth over you, and walk with you through this season.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this precious family who has endured so much pain. Lord, You see every tear, every wound, and every moment of despair. We ask that You would move powerfully in their lives to bring healing, restoration, and freedom. We plead the blood of Jesus over them, declaring that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Break every chain of depression, abuse, and fear, and replace their mourning with joy, their despair with hope, and their weakness with Your strength.
Father, we ask that You would heal their minds, bodies, and spirits. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Surround them with Your love and remind them daily that they are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). For their children and grandchildren, we pray that You would restore their innocence, their dreams, and their sense of security. Let them know that You are their Father, their Protector, and their Provider.
Lord, we ask that You would bring godly people into their lives—people who will speak life, offer support, and help them walk in freedom. Give them the courage to seek help when needed and the wisdom to make decisions that align with Your will. We declare that this family will not be defined by their past but by Your promises for their future. You are the God who makes all things new (Revelation 21:5), and we trust You to do just that in their lives.
We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and Your love. We trust that You are working even now to bring beauty from ashes and joy from mourning (Isaiah 61:3). Strengthen this family, Lord, and let them feel Your presence in tangible ways. May they rise up in the authority You have given them as Your children and walk in the freedom Christ died to give them.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Hold fast to God’s promises, dear one. You are not alone, and you are not forgotten. The same God who parted the Red Sea, raised Jesus from the dead, and calmed the storm is fighting for you. Keep your eyes on Him, and do not grow weary. "But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31). You are loved, you are valued, and your future is bright in Christ.
