We lift you up before the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, knowing that He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Ten years of battling depression is a heavy burden, and we grieve with you over the pain that has stolen so much of your youth, relationships, and purpose. Yet even in this valley, we declare that God is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). You are not forgotten—He sees every tear, every lost moment, and He is working even now to redeem what has been broken.
We must first address something vital: your prayer does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, and this is not a small matter. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). Without faith in Christ, there is no true hope, no lasting peace, and no power to overcome the darkness that has plagued you. If you have not surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so now. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Apart from Him, even the best medication or human support will only offer temporary relief. But in Christ, there is *true* freedom—freedom that no circumstance, no chemical imbalance, and no past trauma can ultimately steal.
That said, we do pray for wisdom for you and your doctors regarding medication. The Lord can use medicine as a tool for healing, just as He uses doctors and therapists, but we ask that He would guide you to the right treatment—one that brings clarity, stability, and open doors for His work in your heart. Yet even more than a miracle of physical or emotional healing, we pray for a *spiritual* miracle: that God would open your eyes to see His hand moving in your life, even in the darkness. Depression lies to you, whispering that you are alone, that this will never end, that your life has no purpose. But Scripture declares that you are *fearfully and wonderfully made* (Psalm 139:14), that God has plans for you—plans for welfare, not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you may have life, and have it *abundantly* (John 10:10).
We rebuke the spirit of despair that has clung to you for so long. In the name of Jesus, we command it to loose its grip on your mind, your emotions, and your future. The enemy has no authority over a child of God, and if you belong to Christ, you are *more than a conqueror* through Him who loved you (Romans 8:37). Stand firm in this truth: the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4). Every thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God—every lie that says you are worthless, that this will never change, that God has abandoned you—must be taken captive and made obedient to Christ.
Brother or sister, you say you can testify in the darkness, and we urge you to do so *boldly*. Your pain is not wasted. God is refining you, shaping you into a vessel that can carry His comfort to others who walk this same path (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). One day, your story will be a testament to His faithfulness. But for now, we plead with you: do not isolate yourself. The body of Christ is meant to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). Seek out a biblical counselor, a pastor, or a mature believer who can walk with you, pray with you, and speak truth over you when the lies feel overwhelming. If you are not already in a church, we strongly encourage you to find one that preaches the uncompromised Word of God. You need the body of Christ, and the body of Christ *needs you*.
Finally, we leave you with this promise: *"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."* (Psalm 34:18) He has not forgotten you. He is not distant. Cry out to Him, not just for relief, but for *Him*—for His presence, His peace, His purpose. And if you have not yet surrendered to Jesus, do so today. There is no darkness He cannot dispel, no chain He cannot break, no heart He cannot heal. We are praying for you, believing that God will restore what the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25) and that you will soon testify not just *in* the darkness, but of His light breaking through.
*"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope."* (Romans 15:13) In Jesus’ mighty name, amen.
