Disciple of Prayer
I live in a ### storey building and the people who live above me exhibit signs of mania demonic possessions. At night and throughout the day they cause these weird noises that no normal person would ever cause such as banging against the wall, thumps, screeches, etc noises that come straight out of a horror movie. Please pray for them and whatever troubles that ails them.

We understand the deep distress and spiritual heaviness you must be feeling in this situation, and we commend you for seeking prayer rather than giving in to fear. The behaviors you describe are indeed unsettling, and while we cannot diagnose the root cause, Scripture makes it clear that such manifestations can be tied to spiritual oppression or even demonic influence. The apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians 6:12, *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."* This is not a battle you face alone, and we stand with you in the authority of Jesus Christ to address this darkness.

First, we must emphasize that your protection and spiritual covering come through faith in Jesus Christ. If you have not already, we urge you to ensure your own heart is right before the Lord, repenting of any sin and inviting the Holy Spirit to fill you afresh. James 4:7 tells us, *"Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you."* This resistance is not done in our own strength but through the power of Christ’s name and the blood He shed for us. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus as your Lord and Savior, now is the time to do so. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Him that we have authority over the enemy.

For those above you, we must pray not only for deliverance but also for their salvation if they do not know Christ. Demonic influence often thrives where there is spiritual vulnerability—whether through unrepentant sin, involvement in the occult, or a lack of relationship with God. Jesus Himself cast out demons with a word (Matthew 8:16), and He has given His followers authority to do the same in His name (Luke 10:19). However, we must approach this with both boldness and discernment, always covered in prayer and humility.

We also encourage you to take practical steps. If you feel led, you might gently inquire about their well-being or offer help if there is an obvious need, as sometimes people in spiritual bondage are also in deep emotional or physical distress. However, if the situation feels dangerous or if you sense a strong spiritual opposition, it may be wise to limit direct interaction and focus on intercessory prayer. Proverbs 22:3 says, *"A prudent man sees danger and hides himself; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it."*

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging that You alone are sovereign over all creation—both the seen and the unseen. Lord, we lift up our brother/sister who is facing this deeply troubling situation. We ask that You surround them with Your heavenly host, that Your angels would encamp around them as Psalm 91:11 promises: *"For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways."*

Lord Jesus, You are the Light that shatters all darkness, and we declare Your victory over every demonic stronghold in that home above. We bind every spirit of confusion, violence, and torment in the name of Jesus, and we command them to be silent and flee, for they have no authority where Your name is lifted high. Father, if there is any openness to the occult, sin, or rebellion in the lives of those living there, we pray that You would convict their hearts by Your Holy Spirit. Draw them to Yourself, Lord, that they may repent and turn to You for salvation. Break every chain of bondage and set them free by the power of Your blood, Jesus.

We also pray for our brother/sister’s peace and protection. Fill their home with Your presence, Lord, and let it be a sanctuary where no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Give them discernment to know how to respond in each moment—whether to speak, to pray, or to remain silent—and grant them the courage to stand firm in faith. Let them rest in the assurance that greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Father, we ask that You would expose and dismantle every work of the enemy in that building. Let Your truth and light penetrate every dark corner, and let Your love triumph over fear. We declare that no scheme of the devil will prevail, for You have already disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame by triumphing over them in Christ (Colossians 2:15).

In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray, Amen.

We also encourage you to anoint your home with oil (a symbol of the Holy Spirit’s protection) and pray over each room, declaring it as territory belonging to God. Play worship music or read Scripture aloud to fill your space with the presence of the Lord. If you have other believers in your life, ask them to join you in prayer—there is power in agreement (Matthew 18:19-20).

Lastly, if the noises or behaviors escalate to the point of feeling physically threatened, do not hesitate to involve local authorities for your safety. Trust that God will guide you in wisdom and peace as you navigate this. Stay rooted in His Word, and remember: the battle belongs to the Lord (1 Samuel 17:47). He is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6).

We're right there with you, friend, in this unsettling situation. It's like living under a storm cloud, but remember, Jesus is our sunshine, and He's bigger than any storm. We've been praying for you and those above, asking God to fill your home with His peace and protection. We've been declaring His Word over your situation, too. You know the one: "No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment you shall condemn" (Isaiah 54:17). We're claiming that for you!

We've also been asking God to expose any root of bitterness, unforgiveness, or spiritual compromise in those living above. We're believing for their hearts to be turned towards God, for them to experience His saving grace and freedom. We're not just fighting for their deliverance, but for their salvation too.

We've been encouraging you to stay strong in faith, to keep your heart right before God, and to resist the enemy in the power of Jesus' name. We've also been reminding you to take practical steps, like keeping your home filled with worship music and the Word of God. Let's keep standing together in faith, knowing that our God is faithful and will see you through this. Keep trusting, keep praying, and remember, you're not alone. We're in this together, and Jesus is with us every step of the way. Keep looking up, friend!
