Beloved of All
# has started watching videos of disabled people online and says that she will end up just like them. She makes comments to her family members about personal things they have told her and that she knows will make them upset. She says that all of her family members are not disabled and get to be happy. She watches videos of of people doing things that she would do if she wasn’t disabled, like becoming a nurse and going to college parties. She will watch these videos all day and half the night, and then get mad at her family at the end of the week because she can’t do those things. She asks other people to pray that she gets a husband, but she refuses to pray herself.

We have heard this request and we bring it before the Lord together, seeking deliverance and healing in Jesus' name. We notice this request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind that it is only by His name that we have access to God and can be saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved, Romans 10:13. To be delivered we must first believe in Jesus, repent of our sins, and call upon Him personally, not only ask others to pray for us while we refuse to pray ourselves.

We must speak truth in love about what has been described. Watching videos of disabled people all day and half the night and then declaring fear that she will end up just like them is living in fear and self pity, not in faith. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7. To watch videos of what she imagines she would do if she were not disabled, like becoming a nurse and going to college parties, and then becoming angry at her family at the end of the week because she cannot do those things, is envy and bitterness taking root. A tranquil heart is the life of the flesh, but envy rots the bones, Proverbs 14:30. Where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed, James 3:16. We also must say that many college parties are not a godly aspiration, as they are often centered on drunkenness and fornication, which is sex outside of marriage, and God calls us to flee from these things and to be sober minded, Galatians 5:19-21, Ephesians 5:18, Hebrews 13:4. To use personal things family members have told her in confidence to intentionally upset them is sin against love and against the tongue. Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear, Ephesians 4:29. With the tongue we bless our Lord and Father, and with the tongue we curse men who are made in the image of God, James 3:9. So we rebuke the practice of weaponizing confidences, the harboring of envy that says her family gets to be happy because they are not disabled, and the anger that is taken out on them. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you, Ephesians 4:31-32. We also rebuke the refusal to pray while asking others to pray for a husband. God desires a personal relationship with each of us. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you, James 4:8. Pray without ceasing, 1 Thessalonians 5:17. To want the blessing of marriage without seeking the Lord who gives it is not God's order.

We want to encourage her with truth. Her value is not determined by her disability. We are fearfully and wonderfully made, Psalm 139:14. God says, Who has made man's mouth, Who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind, Is it not I, Yahweh, Exodus 4:11. Jesus said of a man born blind, Neither did this man sin, nor his parents, but that the works of God might be revealed in him, John 9:3. God's grace is sufficient, for His power is made perfect in weakness, 2 Corinthians 12:9. True joy and happiness are not found in having no limitations but in knowing Christ and being content in every circumstance. We have learned in whatever state we are, to be content, Philippians 4:11, and to give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you, 1 Thessalonians 5:18. We are to redeem the time, because the days are evil, Ephesians 5:16, and not to spend all day and half the night feeding bitterness and envy through videos, but to renew our minds, Romans 12:2, and think on whatever things are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and of good report, Philippians 4:8. The desire for a husband is good when it is a desire for a godly marriage as God designed it, a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman that honors Him, Hebrews 13:4. We pray for a godly spouse, not simply a partner or boyfriend, but for courtship that leads to marriage with another Christian believer who is equally yoked, 2 Corinthians 6:14. But to be prepared for that, she must first become a woman who seeks the Lord herself, prays herself, forgives, serves, and grows in godliness.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We ask for deliverance for this dear one who is bound by fear, envy, bitterness, anger, and an idle use of time that feeds despair. Forgive her for the words used to wound her family and for holding their confidences as weapons, and forgive us all where we have sinned with our tongues. Wash her in the blood of Jesus and give her a new heart that trusts Your goodness and sovereignty over her body and her future. Take away the spirit of heaviness and give her the garment of praise, Isaiah 61:3. Teach her to pray herself, to call upon Jesus daily, to bring her desires and disappointments directly to You, and to find contentment and purpose in You. Heal the hurt in her family, mend what has been broken by harsh words, and teach them all to forgive and to speak with gentleness. A gentle answer turns away wrath, Proverbs 15:1. Lead her away from endless watching that breeds coveting, and lead her into Your Word, into fellowship, into useful work that You have prepared for her. If it is Your will, provide a godly husband, a man who loves You and will love her as Christ loves the church, and prepare her to be a godly wife. But above all, let her know that You love her, that You have a purpose for her life exactly as she is, and that her true happiness is in Christ. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

We can hear how heavy and wearing this has been for your whole family, loving her, worrying as those videos fill so many hours day and night, and then absorbing the hurt when private things are used to wound and anger spills over at the end of the week.

What you are describing often comes from deep grief more than just frustration. Watching others do what she had hoped to do, saying she will end up like the people in the videos, feeling that everyone else gets to be happy, that sadness about what feels missing is so understandable. And the strong emotions that follow, even the anger toward you, can actually be a sign that bigger questions about worth, future and where God is in it are coming to the surface. It takes time to work through those layers, and she does not have to do it alone.

One gentle step that helps many families is to quietly change the rhythm without turning it into a battle. Instead of debating the videos, invite her into something small and shared at a regular time, a meal together, a short walk, sitting with you in worship or a small group when she is willing. Community with other believers who live well with a disability can be a real support, but it often takes time before that feels comfortable, so keep invitations low pressure. When a hurtful comment comes, it is also okay to calmly pause and return to the conversation later when things are cooler.

Father, we lift this dear woman and her family to You. Bring comfort in loneliness, healing where there is grief, and wisdom for each family member to love well with both grace and healthy boundaries. Draw her toward You in her own words and time, and give her hope for the days ahead. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have carried your request before the Lord and have considered it with sorrow and with hope, for there is much here that calls for prayer and for tender yet faithful counsel.

There is a heaviness in this soul that we cannot lightly pass over. To watch continually the lives of others and to feed the heart upon what it has not been given to do is to cultivate discontent, and discontent is a bitter root. The Scripture teaches us that contentment is one of the flowers of heaven, and if we would have it, it must be cultivated. Remember that a man's contentment is in his mind, not in the extent of his possessions. Alexander with all the world at his feet cries for another world to conquer, while the lowliest child of God may have peace in his breast while tribulation lasts, because his faith rests in the wise providence of God. We are taught that godliness with contentment is great gain, and for Christ's sake His people can afford to despise all other so called gain.

This watching all day and half the night, and then the anger at the week's end, shows how the world loses none of its power to wound us when we gaze upon it with envy. To say that others are not disabled and get to be happy, and to use against family members the tender things they have confided, is to keep bitterness against our fellow men. Yet we are told that when the soul has tasted a holy bitterness for sin and for Christ, one gracious effect of that bitterness is to take away all bitterness against our fellow men, and to make Christ very sweet. God has made us bitter to ourselves that there may dwell in that bitterness a power that helps to sanctify us, and the bitterness is gone out of our grief when we consent to be grieved if God will have it so.

We would lovingly and plainly say that to wound others with their own confidences is not the way of love, and it must be repented of and forsaken. To overcome evil with good is the Christian's calling, and there is much for us to do therein by Divine Grace. Let those sharp words be confessed to God and to those who have been hurt, and let kindness be returned for unkindness. And let the habit of gazing upon videos that stir envy be disciplined. Be not idle. In your humble sphere, cultivate contentment. Seek, if you can, by steady perseverance and temperate thriftiness, to raise your position and to use what strength and gifts God has given you, and at the same time learn to rest after affliction and to say, Show me why Thou contendest with me. We make advances in our spiritual education when we learn to rest in God after affliction, and great delights often come to us when trouble is over.

Concerning prayer for a husband, we hear the longing and we do not despise it, for marriage is a good gift of God, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, wherein love and purity and faithfulness are to dwell, and all that belongs to it is to be kept within that covenant. But to ask others to pray while refusing to pray oneself is to stand afar off from the very Fountain. We give another overcoming glance when we look to the Lord Jesus Christ for all things. To us He is alive, He is our familiar Friend. Cry to God against such disability of prayer and be not satisfied till you have conquered that unholy shame, for there is no overcoming Christ except by coming to Him yourself with humble faith. He waits to be entreated. Let her own voice be heard, if only in broken words, Lord be merciful to me a sinner, and Lord teach me to be content in Thy will.

We will pray now as you have asked, and we urge her to pray with us.

O Lord our God, who chastenest whom Thou lovest and blessed are they whom Thou dost teach out of Thy law, look in mercy upon this afflicted one. Forgive the sins of envy and bitter words and idle gazing that feeds discontent. Give a new heart that mourns for sin and finds Christ sweet, and take away bitterness against family and neighbours. Teach the way of contentment in whatever state Thou hast appointed, and give grace to use well the hours now spent in watching, to redeem the time for prayer and for doing good. Bring this soul to pray for herself, to trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and to seek Thee first. If it be Thy will, provide in Thy time a godly marriage according to Thy holy ordinance, but above all give Thyself, that godliness with contentment may be her great gain. Comfort the family also, and help them to overcome evil with good, with much humility and prayer for wisdom and guidance. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We have heard your request and we are praying with you for this dear one and for her family.

God sees her pain and He sees the pain of her family. It is understandable to grieve what disability has made difficult, but what you describe has become more than grief. It has become a root of bitterness and envy that is troubling her soul and wounding those around her. Scripture warns that a root of bitterness springing up defiles many, and that envy and anger, when they are fed, take hold of a person like a fire that burns within. When envy is allowed to grow it does not stay quiet. It turns into words that hurt, into anger against those closest to us, and into a heaviness that makes the heart unable to find rest.

Watching these videos all day and half the night is feeding that envy. She sees the life she wishes she had, a life of nursing, of college, of parties and marriage, and then turns that sorrow into anger toward her family. Using personal things family members have shared in confidence to upset them, and speaking as if only those without disability can be happy, are signs that this bitterness has borne fruit in reviling and malice. This is not the path to peace. The lowly and humble heart is not seized by such passions, but the heart that holds onto envy and love of glory is troubled without ceasing.

We are praying for deliverance, and deliverance will mean turning to Jesus Christ Himself. There is salvation and true joy in Him alone, and He alone can give a calm and content heart whether married or single, whether able bodied or disabled. Her worth is not measured by what she can or cannot do, but by being made in the image of God and loved by Christ who suffered for us.

We pray that God would grant her repentance and a new mind. That she would confess where she has used words to wound her family and ask their forgiveness. That she would put away bitterness, anger, clamor and reviling, with all malice, and learn the practice of humility, kindness, and self control. This will require practical steps. She should cut off the constant watching that stirs envy, limit time online, bring her sorrow honestly to God instead of storing it up for days and then pouring it out on her family, and seek help from a pastor or wise counselor who can walk with her and her family consistently.

About prayer for a husband, God does hear the prayers of His people and marriage is a good gift when it is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman as Scripture teaches. But prayer is not something we can delegate to others while refusing to seek God ourselves. God desires each person to come to Him personally through Jesus Christ, to speak to Him, to listen to His Word, and to trust His will. We will not ask God to simply grant a husband as if that alone will make her happy, for happiness is not found in that alone. We are asking God to give her first a heart that seeks Him, contentment in Christ, purity and patience, and if it is His will in His time to provide a godly husband according to His wisdom, and to prepare her to love and serve within that covenant as God intends. Sex and living together belong only within that marriage, and we pray she would desire what is holy and good in Gods eyes.

Let us pray together. Father in heaven, have mercy on this daughter and on her family. Forgive sin and heal what is broken. Deliver her from the spirit of envy and bitterness and anger that has taken hold. Take away the root of bitterness and plant humility and peace. Help her to turn off what feeds envy and to turn her eyes to Jesus. Teach her to pray herself, to pour out her heart before You and to hear Your Word. Comfort her in her disability, show her the purpose and dignity You have given her, and give her joy that does not depend on circumstances. Bring healing and forgiveness in her family, teach them to speak truth in love and to set healthy boundaries, and guard them from growing weary. Lead her, if it is Your will, to a godly marriage in Your time, and in all things make her whole in Christ. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we ask this, amen.

Continue to love her, to pray for her, and to encourage her gently to seek the Lord herself. Do not return harsh words for harsh words, but do not leave this pattern unaddressed. Encourage her to meet with a pastor, to stay in Scripture and prayer daily even with simple short prayers at first, and to seek fellowship that builds her up rather than media that tears her down. God is able to bring calm to the soul that has been long troubled, and we will keep praying that He does.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your request shows a deep and painful struggle, and it is right to bring it to the Lord for deliverance. What you describe has the marks of a root of bitterness that has been allowed to grow. Scripture warns to look carefully lest any root of bitterness spring up to trouble you and by it many become defiled. That is exactly what is happening here. The bitterness is not only troubling her own heart, it is spreading to the whole family through hurtful words and anger.

The pattern you describe feeds that bitterness. Watching videos all day and half the night of lives she wishes she had, comparing herself to others, and telling herself that others get to be happy and she does not, is envy. Envy is described as rottenness to the bones. It does not bring life. Where envy and strife live there is confusion and every kind of harm. It only hurts the person who holds it. Bitterness is called the gall of bitterness and the bond of iniquity. It is a bondage. A person cannot afford to keep it because it harms them more than anyone else.

That bondage also shows in the way she uses what family members have shared in confidence to say things she knows will upset them. That is the fruit of a bitter heart, railings and words that tear down. And the anger at the end of the week after hours of watching what she cannot do is the same root bearing fruit. No one knows fully how her disability feels to her, but the answer is not to feed the sorrow with constant comparison. The answer is to bring the sorrow to God.

There is a difference between bitter tears of anger toward others and pouring out a bitter soul to the Lord. One woman in Scripture was in bitterness of soul and she wept sorely and poured out her heart before the Lord, even without audible words, just lifting her agony to Him. That is the right direction for grief. God invites that honest prayer. He was with Joseph even when Joseph was rejected and sold by his own brothers out of envy. God is near to the one who turns to Him in truth, even in painful circumstances.

Scripture also says that godliness with contentment is great gain. True riches are not found in having the same life as others, or in getting everything we want, but in belonging to Jesus. Contentment does not have to rest on circumstances, because circumstances change. Contentment can rest on a relationship with Jesus Christ that does not change. When the heart finds its peace and joy in Him, it can learn to be content whatever the condition. The enemy lies and says contentment will come if we could only have what others have, but that path only increases envy and strife.

You also mention that she asks others to pray that she will get a husband but she refuses to pray herself. There was a man in the New Testament who had the gall of bitterness in his heart and when he was confronted he said, pray to the Lord for me. It may have been sincere, but he needed to pray and seek God for forgiveness himself. It is good to ask others to pray, but God wants to hear her own voice. He wants her to come to Him directly through Jesus Christ, to confess sin, to ask for forgiveness for bitterness and for hurting others, and to ask for a clean heart. No one else can do that for her.

For her family, the call is to follow peace with all people and to guard against letting that root of bitterness spread further. That does not mean accepting hurtful speech, but it does mean not building walls with harsh correction, and instead speaking truth with grace and setting healthy limits on what is watched and how family members speak to one another.

Praying for marriage is not wrong, but marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and it is not the source of contentment. Sex and living together belong only within that covenant. We should not ask God to bless any relationship outside His design, and we should not treat a husband as the cure for bitterness. The first need is for God to do a work in the heart, to bring deliverance from bitterness and to give godliness with contentment. If it is His will to bring a godly husband in His time, that will be a gift added to a life already finding its satisfaction in Christ, not a replacement for it.

Let us pray together.

Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this dear one to You. You see the bitterness and envy and the bondage it has become. We ask that You forgive and cleanse and set free from the gall of bitterness and the bond of iniquity. Heal the hurt about disability and the comparison that fuels it. Teach her to pour out her soul to You honestly, as one who is heard by You, and to find contentment not in circumstances but in belonging to Jesus. Remove the desire to wound family members and heal the defilement that has spread to the home. Give her a willingness to pray herself, to seek You with her own heart. Give the family wisdom, grace, and peace, and help them to set loving boundaries around what is watched and what is spoken. Grant godly contentment which is true riches, and in Your will, guide her future according to Your perfect design. Amen.
