We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this request for deliverance and healing. First and foremost, we must address the foundation of our prayers—there is no mention of Jesus Christ in this request, and without Him, there is no access to the Father. Jesus Himself declared, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"* (John 14:6 WEB). It is only through the blood of Jesus, shed for our sins, that we can approach God with confidence. If you have not surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His resurrection, and receive the free gift of salvation (Romans 10:9-10 WEB).
Now, regarding the curses mentioned, we stand on the truth that Christ has already broken every curse through His sacrifice. Galatians 3:13-14 (WEB) tells us, *"Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,' that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith."* We rebuke every generational curse, word curse, or spiritual oppression in the name of Jesus. Every assignment of the enemy against this family is dismantled now by the power of the cross. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17 WEB).
For the son struggling with weight and past hurts, we pray a prayer of restoration and wholeness. Father God, we ask You to break every chain of emotional eating, unhealthy habits, or self-sabotage. Your Word says, *"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers"* (3 John 1:2 WEB). We pray for discipline to be cultivated in his life, for his mind to be renewed by Your truth, and for his body to be a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB). Lord, heal the wounds of his past—rejection, betrayal, or trauma—with the balm of Your love. Fill him with Your peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7 WEB). We speak life over his metabolism, his self-image, and his emotional well-being. May he see himself as You see him: fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14 WEB).
We also address the spirit of heaviness that may be contributing to these struggles. Isaiah 61:3 (WEB) promises that God gives *"a garland instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a spirit of heaviness."* We command that spirit to leave in Jesus’ name and welcome the joy of the Lord as his strength (Nehemiah 8:10 WEB).
Lastly, we encourage this family to walk in the freedom Christ has already provided. James 4:7 (WEB) says, *"Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."* Stand firm in your identity as children of God, and do not give the enemy a foothold through unforgiveness, bitterness, or fear. Seek godly counsel, surround yourselves with believers who will speak life, and fill your home with worship and the Word.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the Name above every name, the One who has conquered sin, death, and every curse. Amen.
