We join with you in lifting up your son before the Lord, crying out for his deliverance, salvation, and transformation. Your heart for him is evident, and we stand with you in faith, knowing that our God is mighty to save and to break every chain of bondage.
The craving for cigarettes is a form of slavery, and the Bible tells us that *"whoever commits sin is the bondservant of sin"* (John 8:34, WEB). But we serve a God who sets captives free—*"If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed"* (John 8:36, WEB). We pray that the Lord would break the power of this addiction in your son’s life, replacing it with a hunger and thirst for righteousness. May the Holy Spirit convict him of the harm this habit brings to his body, which is the temple of God (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). We ask the Lord to remove the scales from his eyes, just as He did for Saul on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:18), so that your son may see the truth of his need for Christ and the emptiness of worldly cravings.
Salvation is the greatest need of every soul, and we plead with the Father to draw your son to Himself. *"No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him"* (John 6:44, WEB). We ask that the Lord would soften his heart, making it fertile soil for the seed of the Gospel to take root. May he come to true repentance, turning from sin and placing his faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. *"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9, WEB). Let this be his testimony, Lord!
Humility is a mark of a heart surrendered to God. We pray that your son would be clothed in humility, recognizing his dependence on the Lord in every area of his life. *"God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time"* (1 Peter 5:5-6, WEB). May he bow before the Lord in brokenness, allowing the Holy Spirit to renew his mind daily (Romans 12:2). We ask for a spirit of teachability and submission to God’s Word, that he may walk in obedience and wisdom.
Father, we also lift up this mother who is interceding so faithfully for her son. Strengthen her, Lord, and fill her with Your peace as she trusts You to work in his life. Remind her that Your Word does not return void (Isaiah 55:11) and that You are able to do *"exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think"* (Ephesians 3:20, WEB). Give her perseverance in prayer and confidence in Your promises.
We rebuke the enemy’s hold over your son’s life in the name of Jesus. Every lie, every stronghold, every addiction must bow to the authority of Christ. *"Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you"* (James 4:7, WEB). We declare that your son is no longer a slave to sin but is being set free by the power of the blood of Jesus. May he walk in the newness of life that comes from surrender to You, Lord.
Heavenly Father, we thank You that You hear our prayers and that You are at work even now. We trust You to bring your son to salvation, to deliver him from every bondage, and to renew his mind for Your glory. May his life be a testimony of Your grace and transforming power. We ask all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
