We join you in praising our Lord Jesus Christ, for He alone is worthy of all glory, honor, and thanksgiving! Your heart for restoration and freedom is evident, and we stand with you in agreement, declaring the power of His mighty name over your life. You have rightly come before the throne of grace, claiming the promises of Scripture, and we rejoice that you are walking in the authority given to you as a child of God.
Your request reflects a deep desire to be fully released from the lingering effects of past relationships that were not aligned with God’s will. The Word of God assures us that *"if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new"* (2 Corinthians 5:17, WEB). What a powerful truth! The blood of Jesus has the power to sever every ungodly tie, to break every chain, and to restore what was lost or corrupted by sin. You have stood firmly on Isaiah 61:7, which declares, *"Instead of your shame you will have double. Instead of dishonor, they will rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they will possess double. Everlasting joy will be to them."* Claim this promise, beloved, for the Lord is faithful to restore what the enemy has stolen.
We commend you for recognizing the danger of ungodly friendships, as Scripture warns us in 1 Corinthians 15:33: *"Don’t be deceived! ‘Evil companionships corrupt good morals.’"* Your decision to distance yourself from this woman, particularly in light of her involvement in the grave sin of abortion, was wise and necessary. Abortion is a grievous evil before the Lord, a direct violation of His commandment *"You shall not murder"* (Exodus 20:13, WEB). While we are called to show compassion to those ensnared in sin, we must never enable or participate in their rebellion against God. You were right to step away, for we cannot align ourselves with the works of darkness. Ephesians 5:11 commands us, *"Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them."*
You have also rightly asked the Lord to release you from any emotional or spiritual ties to this woman. John 8:36 proclaims, *"If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed."* This is your inheritance in Christ! The enemy may try to bring up memories or emotions tied to this past friendship, but you have the authority to reject those thoughts in the name of Jesus. Take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5), and declare that you are free from the snares of the enemy. The Lord is breaking every ungodly soul tie, and He is restoring your mind, emotions, and spirit to wholeness.
As for this woman, we pray that the Lord would open her eyes to the gravity of her sin and lead her to true repentance. While you are not responsible for her choices or their consequences, we ask the Lord to surround her with godly influences who will speak truth into her life. May she encounter the conviction of the Holy Spirit, who alone can bring her to a place of brokenness before God. Pray that she would turn from her sin and seek forgiveness through Jesus Christ, for *"if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9, WEB).
We also want to address the mention of "sports" in your prayer. If this refers to any form of witchcraft, divination, or occult practices—even seemingly harmless ones like "sports" or "games" tied to spiritual bondage—we strongly rebuke it in the name of Jesus. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 warns against engaging in such things, and Galatians 5:19-21 lists witchcraft among the works of the flesh. If there is any connection to the occult in your past, renounce it now, and ask the Lord to cleanse you thoroughly. *"No one who is born of God practices sin, because God’s seed remains in him; and he can’t sin, because he is born of God"* (1 John 3:9, WEB).
Let us pray together over you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up Your child who seeks freedom and restoration. Lord, we thank You that You are a God who redeems, who breaks chains, and who sets the captives free. We declare that every ungodly tie to this past friendship is severed by the blood of Jesus. Every memory, every emotion, every spiritual connection is broken in the name of Jesus. Father, we ask that You would restore what was lost, that You would replace shame with double honor, and dishonor with everlasting joy, just as Your Word promises in Isaiah 61:7.
Lord, we pray that You would surround our brother/sister with godly friendships, relationships that edify and draw them closer to You. Remove any lingering influence of the enemy from their mind and heart. If there has been any involvement in occult practices, we renounce it now in Jesus’ name, and we ask that You would cleanse and purify every area of their life. Let Your Holy Spirit fill every space that was once occupied by darkness.
We also lift up this woman who was part of their past. Lord, we ask that You would bring conviction to her heart. Let her see the gravity of her sin and turn to You in repentance. Raise up godly people in her life who will speak Your truth to her. Do not let her remain in deception, but draw her to Yourself, Lord.
Father, we thank You that our brother/sister is free indeed in Christ Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, they shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). Fill them with Your peace, Your joy, and Your righteousness. Let them walk in the fullness of the freedom You have purchased for them.
We pray all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Beloved, continue to walk in the freedom Christ has given you. Guard your heart and your relationships carefully, ensuring they align with God’s Word. Surround yourself with believers who will encourage you in your faith and hold you accountable. If you ever feel the enemy trying to drag up the past, stand firm on the truth of Scripture and declare your freedom in Christ. You are more than a conqueror through Him who loved you (Romans 8:37). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith, and trust that He is completing the good work He began in you (Philippians 1:6).
