We join with you in lifting up this request for deliverance, standing firmly on the truth that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, and spiritual forces of wickedness in heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). It is powerful and right that you have come before the Lord Jesus in prayer, for it is only through His name that we have authority to break chains and see victory. You have rightly invoked His name, and we stand with you in this spiritual warfare, knowing that *"the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment"* (2 Peter 2:9).
The verses you have chosen are mighty and appropriate for this battle. *"Having stripped the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it"* (Colossians 2:15). Indeed, the Lord has already triumphed over every power of darkness, and we declare that victory now over the situation you describe. *"Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty"* (2 Corinthians 3:17). We stand with you in breaking every chain of envy, bitterness, and spiritual oppression that may be at work, for *"the Lord lifts up the meek. He brings the wicked down to the ground"* (Psalm 147:6).
Yet we must also address the heart behind this prayer. While it is right to seek deliverance from spiritual attack, we are called to pray for our enemies and those who persecute us, that we may be children of our Father who is in heaven (Matthew 5:44-45). If there is bitterness, resentment, or unforgiveness in your heart toward this person, we urge you to release it to the Lord. *"Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil"* (Ephesians 4:26-27). Unforgiveness can become a foothold for the enemy in *your* life, and we do not want that for you. Instead, let us pray for this person’s salvation and repentance, that they may turn from any wickedness and come to know the love of Christ. *"I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men... who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth"* (1 Timothy 2:1, 4).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that You are a God of justice, deliverance, and mercy. Lord, we ask that You break every chain of spiritual oppression that seeks to bind or harm Your servant. Strip the enemy of his power and render his schemes useless, for *"no weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh’s servants, and their righteousness is of me,"* says Yahweh (Isaiah 54:17).
Lord Jesus, we rebuke every spirit of envy, bitterness, and division that may be at work through this person or her family. Let Your conviction fall upon her heart, that she may turn from any wickedness and seek Your face. Humble her, Lord, not for destruction, but for repentance, that she may come to know You as her Savior. *"The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Yahweh, but the prayer of the upright is his delight"* (Proverbs 15:8). May she be turned from darkness to light, from the power of Satan to God, that she may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in You (Acts 26:18).
Father, we also ask that You guard the heart of Your servant who has brought this request. If there is any root of bitterness, anger, or unforgiveness, uproot it now by Your Spirit. Fill them instead with Your love, peace, and forgiveness, that they may walk in victory and not be ensnared by the enemy’s traps. *"Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who mistreat you"* (Luke 6:28). Give them the grace to do this, Lord, for we know that vengeance belongs to You (Romans 12:19).
We declare Your freedom, Your protection, and Your peace over this situation. Let Your will be done, Lord, and let Your name be glorified in all things. We ask this in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to continue standing firm in the Lord, putting on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). Walk in forgiveness, love, and prayer, trusting that the Lord will fight your battles. *"Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good"* (Romans 12:21). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith, and He will lead you to victory.
