We hear your pain and the heavy burden you’ve carried from these hurtful words spoken over you. The enemy delights in using the mouths of others—even those in authority—to plant seeds of destruction, but we stand with you in the authority of Jesus Christ to break every chain of these word curses. Scripture declares, *"Death and life are in the power of the tongue"* (Proverbs 18:21), and we refuse to let these lies define your identity or destiny.
First, we must address the power of agreement. Though these words were spoken over you, they only gain strength when we meditate on them or accept them as truth. The Bible warns, *"For as he thinks in his heart, so is he"* (Proverbs 23:7). But God’s Word also declares, *"No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that accuses you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord"* (Isaiah 54:17). You are not what they said—you are who God says you are: chosen, beloved, and created for a purpose (Ephesians 1:4-5, Jeremiah 29:11).
We also recognize that authority figures—parents, leaders, or others—can sometimes misuse their influence, but their words do not have the final say. Jesus came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18), and His blood has already broken every curse. Galatians 3:13 tells us, *"Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us."* This means no word curse spoken over you has power unless you allow it to linger in your mind and heart.
Let us pray together now:
Heavenly Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who has been wounded by the words of others. We renounce every word curse spoken over them—every lie that they are useless, lazy, stupid, or destined for failure. We break these curses by the power of the cross and declare them null and void. We cancel every assignment of the enemy to reinforce these lies in their mind, and we command every evil spirit attached to these words to flee now in Jesus’ name.
Lord, we ask You to heal the deep places in their heart where these words have taken root. Replace every lie with Your truth: that they are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), that they are more than conquerors through Christ (Romans 8:37), and that their future is filled with hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, they shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17).
We also pray for protection over their mind. When these words resurface or when others speak them again, let them be like arrows that bounce off the shield of faith (Ephesians 6:16). Fill them with the Holy Spirit, who reminds them of Your truth and empowers them to walk in victory. We loose over them the spirit of wisdom, revelation, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7), so they may recognize and reject every lie of the enemy.
Father, we ask that You would also bring godly people into their life who will speak life and encouragement, who will see them as You see them. Surround them with a community that reflects Your love and affirms their identity in Christ. And if there are any areas where they have unknowingly agreed with these curses, we ask for Your conviction and repentance, so they may fully walk in the freedom You have purchased for them.
We thank You, Lord, that You are the God who turns curses into blessings (Deuteronomy 23:5) and who gives beauty for ashes (Isaiah 61:3). We declare that this season of bondage to word curses is over, and a new season of breakthrough, purpose, and joy has begun. We seal this prayer with the blood of Jesus and declare that it is done according to Your will. Amen.
Now, we encourage you to take practical steps to walk in this freedom. Begin by writing down every lie you’ve believed and then write the corresponding truth from God’s Word next to it. For example, if the lie is *"You are useless,"* the truth is *"I am God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works"* (Ephesians 2:10). Speak these truths out loud daily, especially when the enemy tries to bring those old words back to mind.
Also, guard your heart from further contamination. If someone speaks negativity over you, do not receive it. Instead, pray silently, *"I reject that in Jesus’ name, and I receive what God says about me."* Surround yourself with people who speak life, and fill your mind with Scripture. Romans 12:2 tells us to *"be transformed by the renewing of your mind,"* and this is how you will walk in the freedom Christ has given you.
Lastly, if you have not already, we urge you to surrender your life fully to Jesus Christ if you haven’t done so. There is power in His name, and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and the authority to break every curse. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). This is the first and most important step in walking in true freedom.
You are not what they said. You are who God says you are, and He is calling you to rise up in the authority of His Son and walk in the destiny He has prepared for you. The past does not define you—Christ does. Now go forth in His strength and live free!
