Deliverance from Lust

I would love for some friends to come together to pray for me for strength in my journey to be delivered from lust, masturbation, porn. I feel I am stuck in a cycle right now. I know through Jesus I can be delivered and given the strength to overcome these temptations. But I am honestly complacent and don’t allow myself to fully move on into a life serving Christ. I have been struggling for over ### years with this sin. And I need it to end. I need to feel better.
 
We hear your cry for deliverance, and we stand with you in this battle, lifting you up before the throne of grace where mercy and help are found in time of need. The struggle with lust, masturbation, and pornography is a heavy burden, but we declare with certainty that Jesus Christ has already broken the power of sin and death, and through Him, you *can* walk in freedom. The Word of God assures us, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."* (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB). You are not alone in this fight, and the cycle you feel trapped in is not your eternal destiny.

First, we must address the complacency you’ve acknowledged. Complacency is a subtle deception of the enemy, whispering that change isn’t possible or that you can manage sin on your own terms. But the Bible warns, *"Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he doesn’t fall."* (1 Corinthians 10:12 WEB). The fact that you recognize this complacency is a sign of the Holy Spirit’s conviction—do not resist it. True repentance requires not just sorrow over sin, but a turning away from it with a heart fully surrendered to Christ. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* (1 John 1:9 WEB). Confession is not just about admitting wrong; it’s about agreeing with God that this sin has no place in your life and actively pursuing holiness.

We rebuke the spirit of lust and addiction in the mighty name of Jesus. These are not merely "bad habits"—they are strongholds that seek to steal your purity, distort God’s design for intimacy, and rob you of the abundant life Christ died to give you. *"For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God."* (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 WEB). The world may normalize these sins, but God calls them what they are: rebellion against His holy standards. We must call them out by name and reject them with the authority of Christ.

You mentioned serving Christ more fully—this is key. The more you draw near to Him, the more His power transforms you. *"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded."* (James 4:7-8 WEB). Victory over sin is not found in your own strength but in abiding in Christ. Spend time in His Word, in prayer, and in fellowship with believers who will hold you accountable. Cut off every avenue that feeds this temptation—whether it’s ungodly media, unhealthy relationships, or isolation. *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body."* (1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB). Fleeing means running *toward* Christ, not just away from sin.

We also want to encourage you with the truth that your identity is not defined by this struggle. You are not "a lustful person" or "an addict"—you are a child of God, redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and called to walk in purity. *"Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB). Your body belongs to the Lord, and He has equipped you with everything you need for godliness. *"His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue."* (2 Peter 1:3 WEB).

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the name by which we are saved and set free. Lord, we lift up our brother who is crying out for deliverance from the chains of lust, masturbation, and pornography. We thank You that he has come to You, acknowledging his need for Your strength and Your grace. We declare that Jesus has already paid the price for his freedom, and we stand on Your promise that *"if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed."* (John 8:36 WEB).

Father, we ask You to break every chain of addiction and complacency in his life. We rebuke the spirit of lust and every lie that tells him he cannot overcome. We command every stronghold to crumble in the name of Jesus, and we declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him (Romans 8:37). Lord, fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in purity and self-control. *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."* (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB).

Father, we ask You to heal the wounds that may have led him to seek comfort in these sins. Where there is shame, replace it with Your love. Where there is guilt, remind him of Your forgiveness. Where there is isolation, surround him with godly community. Lord, we pray for accountability in his life—raise up brothers who will walk with him, pray with him, and encourage him in his journey. Help him to flee temptation and to run to You, the only source of true satisfaction.

We also pray for his mind. Renew it by Your Word, that he may think on whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable (Philippians 4:8). Guard his eyes, his heart, and his thoughts, Lord. *"Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me."* (Psalm 51:10 WEB). Let him find his joy and fulfillment in You alone.

Father, we thank You that You are faithful to complete the work You have begun in him (Philippians 1:6). We declare that this cycle of sin is broken, and that he will walk in the freedom Christ died to give him. Strengthen him when he is weak, lift him when he falls, and remind him that Your grace is sufficient for every moment.

We ask all these things in the mighty, matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Savior, our Deliverer, and our Lord. Amen.

Do not grow weary, dear brother. The road to freedom is a journey, but every step taken in faith brings you closer to the victory that is already yours in Christ. You are not fighting for victory—you are fighting *from* victory. Keep pressing into Jesus, and remember that *"he who calls you is faithful, who will also do it."* (1 Thessalonians 5:24 WEB). We are standing with you, praying with you, and believing with you for complete deliverance.
 
Dear friend, we hear your cry for deliverance and we're here with you, praying and believing for your freedom. We want to encourage you with these words from Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." He sees you, He cares, and He's ready to meet you right where you are.

We want to remind you of the power of confession and repentance. As it's written in Proverbs 28:13, "Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy." Be honest with God, with yourself, and with a trusted accountability partner. Confess your struggles, renounce the sin, and turn towards Jesus.

Remember, you're not alone in this fight. We're here for you, and so is the entire body of Christ. As Ephesians 3:16-17 reminds us, "I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith." Ask God to fill you with His Spirit, to strengthen you, and to help you walk in purity and freedom.

We also want to encourage you to run to Jesus, not just away from sin. Spend time with Him in prayer, in His Word, and in fellowship with other believers. As you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you (James 4:8). Trust in His love for you, His power to save you, and His desire to see you walk in freedom.

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today on behalf of our ###. Lord, we ask for Your healing power to break the chains of lust, masturbation, and pornography in their life. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, giving them the strength and self-control to walk in purity. Help them to find their joy and fulfillment in You alone. We thank You that You are faithful to complete the work You've begun in them. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Keep pressing into Jesus, dear friend. We're standing with you, praying for you, and believing with you for complete deliverance. You are not alone, and you are loved.
