Also parent support at home with homework

We hear your heart for these first graders and we join you in bringing them before the Lord, for we know how heavy it is to teach when there is constant defiance and distraction in the classroom and when little ones are struggling to grasp the very foundations of reading and math.

Scripture reminds us that children are called to obedience and respect for authority. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Ephesians 6:1 and Children, obey your parents in all things, for this pleases the Lord. Colossians 3:20. When students refuse to follow directions and rules and intentionally distract others, it is not simply a classroom management issue but a heart issue that needs gentle, consistent training in righteousness. We pray for wisdom for you to correct with love and firmness, reflecting the Lord's own discipline which is not harsh but is meant to restore. Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6. We also remember that God has placed teachers as authorities for good, and we pray these children will learn to honor that authority. Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities. Romans 13:1.

We also lift up their learning needs. It is so important that at this young age they learn to blend sounds, to read with fluency, and to understand the math concepts you are faithfully teaching. We pray for God to open their minds and give them understanding, and to give you supernatural wisdom and patience as you teach. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5. We ask the Lord to show you creative ways to reach each child, to quiet the background noises and distractions, and to bring order and peace into the classroom. I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. Psalm 32:8. We pray for God's favor and protection over every student and over you, that no harm would come to them and that their hearts and minds would be guarded. Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10.

We also pray for the parents, for their support at home is so vital. These words, which I command you today, shall be on your heart and you shall teach them diligently to your children. Deuteronomy 6:6-7. We pray that parents would take an active role in helping with homework, practicing reading, and reinforcing respect for rules and for you as their teacher. We ask God to stir their hearts to partner with you for the good of these children.

We want to gently share something important we noticed, that your request did not mention the name of Jesus. We want to remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. It is by putting our faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are forgiven and can come boldly to God. We pray always in His precious name.

We pray together now. Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this classroom to You. Lord, we ask You to soften the hearts of these defiant students, to give them a spirit of obedience, self-control, and respect for their teacher and for one another. Quiet the distractions and the noises that disrupt learning and let Your peace rule in that room. Father, touch the minds of these first graders, help them to blend sounds, to read with fluency, and to comprehend the math and reading skills being taught. Give them a love for learning and remove any confusion or frustration. Anoint this teacher with wisdom, patience, creativity, and strength, and do not let her grow weary in doing good. Draw the parents to faithfully help their children at home with homework and practice. Cover this class with Your favor and protection. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. We trust You to work in these little lives for Your glory. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We appreciate you bringing this to us and standing in the gap for your class. Teaching first graders who are still learning how to listen, sit together, and blend sounds is demanding work, and when a few students are defiant and noisy it can wear down the whole room and your own energy.

We hear your heart for each child to feel safe, to grasp reading and math, and to get support at home. That burden is real, and God sees your faithfulness in showing up for them every day.

One small step that often eases the strain is to narrow your focus for a week. Pick one clear routine, like how to respond the first time a direction is given, and practice it briefly each morning with praise for any effort. For reading, a simple one page with the three or four sounds you are blending that week to send home can give parents a concrete way to help without feeling overwhelmed, and it opens a gentle line of communication.

You are doing important, unseen work.

Father, we lift this teacher and these first graders to You. Give calm and order to the classroom, protect their time together, and help each child grow in reading and understanding. Strengthen this teacher with patience and rest, and draw parents into partnership in a way that encourages them. Guide every day in Your wisdom. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your earnest plea for these little ones has risen before the Lord, and He who hears the desire of the humble has heard it. We have heard a good deal about thought reading among men, but here is a wonderful instance with the Lord, for He hears not only your words but your groanings out of the very deeps when the classroom is full of noise and distraction and your heart is weary.

Take comfort in this truth, that God's children are under instruction. Other children may run about and take holiday and do very much as they like, but the Lord's own have to go to school. This is a great privilege for them, though they do not always think so, for children are not often good judges of what is best for themselves. Grace itself has a discipline and a wonderful training power. It teaches us to deny ungodliness and to live soberly and righteously. What you are seeking for these first graders, that they should learn to follow direction, to keep rule, to blend sounds and to understand what is taught, is itself part of that gracious discipline by which the Lord forms the young.

It requires a patient disposition to deal with children, for what you could bear from those who are children in years you cannot so well endure when defiance shows itself. Yet remember how the Lord has dealt with us as children, not chiding us for our many mistakes, but teaching us to walk as a mother teaches her little one to go, as it is written, I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms. Like as a father pitieth his children, even so the Lord pitieth them that fear Him. Believe that your children need the Spirit of God to give them new hearts and right spirits, or else they will go astray as other children do, and ask Him for that new heart which makes obedience sweet and learning possible.

Let us pray together for them.

O Lord our God, who hast said, Suffer the little children to come unto me, look in mercy upon these first graders now before Thee. Thou knowest each one by name, those who are defiant and those who make noises and distract, those who cannot yet blend sounds nor read with fluency. Give them rest from the days of adversity through Thy blessed discipline, and grant them quiet and attentive spirits, that they may hear instruction and keep it. Open their minds to reading and to numbers, help them to understand the math concepts and the reading skills that are set before them, and cause that which is taught to abide in them. Put Thy hand upon them for favor and for protection, keep them from harm and from the evil that would hinder their growth.

We ask also for those who teach them. Grant patience, wisdom and strength to correct in love and to persevere when the way is hard. And we pray for parent support at home, that fathers and mothers may take up the work with homework and with the Word, for children are capable of great service even as children, and the Word which they carry home Thou wilt bless. Let Thy grace exercise its holy discipline in that classroom, that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, these little ones may be trained up in the way they should go.

Hear us, O Lord, for we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior, who alone is salvation, and in whom we trust. Amen.
