Bless the Lord, for He is wise and He is just. He wants the absolute best for us.
Some times the things we desire are His will for us, but not in the way that we want them.
Those desires that consume us, that fill our mind and hearts night and day, taking His place, have become an idol.
The Lord wants to bless us lavishly, but He doesn't want us to be destroyed. The blessing will destroy us if we want it so badly that we allow it to become an idol, and therefore sin, because sin leads to death.
Yet, the anguish, the missing, the tearing heart, the mourning, the tears, the lack of sleep, the lack of eating all has its purpose.
The beautiful prayers of travail, the deep depths of pain from inner longing can become fervent prevailing prayers.
Let this sense of lack change you and cause you to realize that this place can only be filled by Him.
Let Him be enough and offer this desire to Him.
As Hannah did after years without breakthrough, and she sacrificed her desire to Him.
10 In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the Lord, weeping bitterly. 11 And she made a vow, saying, “Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.†- 1 Samuel 1:10-11
He will not forget your prayers and your deepest desires.
Let Him be first. Let Him be everything. He remembers you, so why don't you remember Him?
After Abraham offered his son back to the Lord, the Lord gave him back his son. When Hannah prayed that the Lord could have her son, He remembered her and she later had many children.
and the Lord remembered her. 20 So in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, “Because I asked the Lord for him.†- 1 Samuel 1:19b-20
Her prayers which accumulated through the years of waiting on the Lord had a powerful result and created one of the greatest prophets of the old testament in a very dark time for Israel. How precious your prayers are to the Lord. These prayers, both spoken and purely emotional change not only you, but also builds up beautiful blessings beyond your imagination in the people you are praying for. Hallelujah! Trust Him!
Those who sow with tears
will reap with songs of joy.
Those who go out weeping,
carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with them.
- Psalm 126
Do not give up in your precious prayers!
Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. - Proverbs 13:12
