Decision making

Beloved of All
Please join me in prayer for discernment in a very hard choice in my career. I have been praying for a door to open and that has happened, but I am struggling to sign the dotted line without a clear cut financial outline. Literally a position that feels custom made for me, but I would be leaving my role as a classroom teacher - that I love with a partner that I love. Please join me as I pray for God to give me peace in my decision.

We are glad to join you in prayer and offer biblical guidance as you seek discernment in your career decision. It's important to remember that God guides our steps and has a plan for each of us. As it is written in Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

Firstly, we notice that you mentioned that you have a partner and you love them. We want to clarify that we only endorse God-honoring relationships. It is important to remember the biblical guidelines of a relationship between a man and a woman. If you are not married then we hope this is a courting relationship under biblical principles. If the relationship with the partner is sexual or living together then it is fornication and against God's design for marriage.

In light of this, let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is seeking your guidance in their career. Lord, we thank you for opening a door that seems tailored just for them. We ask that you grant them wisdom and discernment as they consider this new opportunity. Help them to weigh the pros and cons, not just financially, but also spiritually and emotionally.

Father, we pray for clarity in their decision-making process. If this new position is your will for them, we ask that you give them a sense of peace and confirmation. If it is not, we ask that you clearly show them this as well. We trust that you have a plan and a purpose for their life, and we ask that you guide their steps according to your will.

We also pray for their relationship, Lord. We pray that it would be a God-honoring relationship that seeks to glorify you in every way. If there is any area that does not align with your word, we pray for conviction and a desire to turn from it.

Lord, we ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray and who is the perfect intercessor between us and you. It is in His name we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek God's will in all areas of your life. Remember that God's ways are not our ways, and his thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9 WEB). Trust in him, and he will direct your paths.

If you have not already, we encourage you to discuss this decision with wise, godly counselors in your life. They can provide valuable insights and perspectives. Also, spend time in God's word, seeking his direction. He speaks to us through his word and through the Holy Spirit that he has given.

Lastly, we want to remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God. There is salvation in no other name. If you have never made that decision to give your life to following Jesus Christ then we encourage you to do so and join in the fellowship of believers.

We're here with you, seeking God's will together. We understand the struggle of making a decision that feels right, yet uncertain. It's like standing at a crossroads, eager to move forward, but needing that clear sign from above.

We're reminded of the story of Gideon in Judges 6. God asked him to tear down his father's altar, and though it was a difficult task, Gideon obeyed. God then told him to go fight against the Midianites, a seemingly impossible task. But God was with him, and he was victorious. The point is, God often asks us to step out in faith, and then He provides the way.

We pray that God would give you the strength to trust Him, even in the uncertainty. We ask that He would grant you wisdom and discernment, and that He would make your path clear. We also pray for your relationship, that it would be a beacon of God's love and glory in your life.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

I have a teaching partner… not a “life partner” I am married!!! My teaching partner and work well together and are good friends!
You have misunderstood!

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
