Good morning
Again I am sorry for not posting yesterday. I am still in the fight no matter what. I had a really good talk with my pastor on Friday night. It was the first time I got an early night sleep. But of course my children wake me up at 11:15 to ask me if I can take them over their nana shop for some food. Wasn’t happening lol. God is good. I feel so refreshed.
We talked about forgiveness which we all know I have been speaking about for the past few days. I was feeling really bad because I felt that I wasn’t totally forgiving ow and h because when she would do something I would remember previous acts. Thank you Father for my pastor, because he let me know I was human and also that is an attack of Satan. Satan is also called the accuser so he was trying to use previous acts that were already settled and at peace in my soul to torment me.
We all know I talk a lot about not just Satan but also our own thoughts and desires getting in the way, so this was one where I thought it was me, but it was another sneaky attack. So now I know about this one. J one thing my pastor said to me that also helped and I hope it helps everyone else is that he is glad I have forgiven them for the past present and future sins and hurts they will inflect on me. That is something we have to remember that when we forgive we forgive as Jesus does. Not just for what they are doing right now but for what they will do in the future.
A lot of us feel yes I have forgiven them for XYZ, and that issue is over with but when they start over at ABC we go but I just forgave you for XYZ now you want me to forgive you for this as well. Well what are you doing here? Are you forgiven the action of the person? When we forgive and love the person, we forgive and love the person no matter what. Not just for today but also for the future. If we remember that we have forgiven them and release them to God when it happens again, it may hurt but when we bring to remembrance that we have forgiven and released this person to God it will ease up so much quicker.
My pastor told me that forgiveness is an act of faith. We forgive with faith, faith that we have forgiven and release this burden to God and he will do his will with us and through us. We cannot continue to hold on to unforgiveness it will make us bitter.
When we talk about faith the first verse most of us quote is Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
But my pastor also bought me to remembrance of Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
By faith we believe that God exists and he rewards those who are faithful. That is all part of forgiveness. Remember forgiveness is a command from God and by faith we will be rewarded, and the most precious reward we will receive is found in Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Amen. After all that is what we all want.
And when we start thinking about the pain and anything our spouse has done we have to remember the following:
- we have forgiven them already no matter what they do
- we love them now and forever no matter what
Then we take the following verses from the bible and claim them for the truth that they are:
- Phjilippians 4:6 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
- 2 Corinthians 10:5 - We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
- Phillipians 4:8 - Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
These all work together to break the strong holds of unforgiven and increase our faith and gives us the peace of God that we are so desperately needing.
P.S. remember the measure of a faith is not how many times you fall, but how many times you get back up. Proverbs 24:16 (NIV) ~ Though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again.
