Disciple of Prayer
I am asking for prayers for my daughter. She is divorced with a child whom she has 50/50 custody not by choice but the judge's fault. The ex-husband is a narcissistic person who has no peace within himself. My prayer is that he will give my daughter full custody willingly. My soon-to-be 7-year-old granddaughter has been going to counseling. This is so not right. These should be her happy years. She loves going to church and children's study. He forces her to go to a Catholic church because his mother insists on it. Please we are all praying. Thank you so much for your prayers.

We lift up your daughter and granddaughter before the Lord, knowing that He is a God of justice, peace, and restoration. Your heartache for them is deeply felt, and we join you in crying out to the Father for His divine intervention in this painful situation. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but we stand firm in the truth that our God is greater, and He desires wholeness for His children.

First, we must acknowledge that divorce is not God’s design, though He allows it in cases of unfaithfulness (Matthew 19:9). The brokenness of this situation is evident, and we pray that your daughter would find her strength and identity in Christ alone, especially in this season of single parenthood. May she lean fully on Him, trusting that He is her Provider, Comforter, and Defender (Psalm 68:5). We also pray that she would forgive her ex-husband, not because he deserves it, but because unforgiveness is a weight the Lord never intended for her to carry (Colossians 3:13). Bitterness only harms the one who holds onto it, but forgiveness releases her to walk in the freedom Christ purchased for her.

The narcissism you describe in your daughter’s ex-husband is a manifestation of deep spiritual brokenness. A heart at war with itself cannot know peace, and we pray that the Lord would convict him of his sin and draw him to repentance. Only the Holy Spirit can soften a heart of stone (Ezekiel 36:26), so we ask that God would break through his pride and self-centeredness. May he encounter the living God in a way that leaves him undone, leading him to surrender his life to Christ. Until that day, we pray for supernatural protection over your granddaughter when she is in his care. May the Lord place a hedge of angels around her, guarding her heart, mind, and spirit from the enemy’s schemes (Psalm 91:11). We also pray that the Lord would give your daughter wisdom in navigating the legal system, that every decision made would align with His will, and that He would move in the hearts of those in authority to bring about justice (Proverbs 21:1).

Your granddaughter’s love for church and children’s study is a testament to the work God is already doing in her young life. It is *not* right that she is being forced into a religious system that does not align with the truth of Scripture. Catholicism teaches doctrines that are not biblically sound, such as praying to Mary, the veneration of saints, and salvation through works, which contradict the gospel of grace (Ephesians 2:8-9). We pray that the Lord would give your granddaughter discernment beyond her years, that she would recognize truth from error, and that the Holy Spirit would anchor her in His Word. May she develop a personal, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ, unshaken by the traditions of men (Colossians 2:8). We also pray that your daughter would have boldness and opportunity to speak biblical truth into her life, planting seeds of faith that will grow into an unmovable foundation.

The fact that your granddaughter is in counseling at such a young age is heartbreaking, but we trust that God can use even this for His glory. We pray that the counselor would be a godly influence, speaking wisdom and truth into her life, and that the Lord would bring deep healing to her little heart. May she know, even now, that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), that her worth is found in Christ alone, and that no scheme of the enemy can separate her from His love (Romans 8:38-39). These *should* be her happy years, and we declare that the Lord will restore the joy that has been stolen (Joel 2:25). May He fill her days with laughter, peace, and the simple delights of childhood, even amid this difficult season.

Finally, we want to address the power of praying *in Jesus’ name*. There is no other name under heaven by which we are saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). We are so grateful that you are praying, but we encourage you to always approach the throne of grace in the name of Jesus, for it is His righteousness that makes our prayers effective. If your daughter does not yet know the Lord personally, we urge her to surrender her life to Him, for apart from Christ, we can do nothing (John 15:5). Salvation is found in no one else, and it is by faith in His finished work on the cross that we are made right with God (Romans 10:9-10).

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this precious daughter and granddaughter to Your throne of grace. Lord, You see the pain, the injustice, and the brokenness in this situation, and we ask that You would move mightily on their behalf. Father, we pray for supernatural intervention in the custody battle. Softening the heart of this ex-husband is impossible for man, but nothing is impossible for You (Luke 1:37). We ask that You would convict him of his sin, bring him to repentance, and lead him to willingly release full custody to his ex-wife. If it is not Your will, then we pray for Your peace that surpasses understanding to guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Lord, we pray for protection over this little girl. Shield her from the enemy’s attacks, from confusion, and from the ungodly influences in her life. May she grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with You, just as Jesus did (Luke 2:52). Give her a hunger for Your Word and a love for Your truth that cannot be shaken. We pray that You would surround her with godly mentors and friends who will point her to You.

Father, we ask for healing—healing for the wounds of divorce, healing for the trauma of being pulled between two homes, and healing for the emotional toll this has taken on her. Restore her joy, Lord. Let her childhood be marked by Your peace, Your love, and Your goodness.

We pray for Your wisdom and strength for this mother as she navigates this difficult season. Give her patience, endurance, and a deep trust in Your sovereignty. Remind her that You are her Husband, her Provider, and her Defender (Isaiah 54:5). May she find her rest in You alone.

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of narcissism, confusion, and division in this situation. We bind the enemy’s work and declare that Your will shall prevail. Bring unity where there is division, peace where there is chaos, and truth where there are lies.

Finally, Father, we pray that this entire family would come to know You more deeply through this trial. Draw them closer to Yourself, and let this season be a testament to Your faithfulness. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Dear Sister,

We are here with you, standing in the gap for your daughter and granddaughter. Our hearts ache with yours as we lift them up to the Lord. We believe in a God who is just, who fights for the oppressed, and who restores what the enemy has stolen.

We join you in praying for full custody for your daughter. We ask that the Lord would soften the heart of your daughter's ex-husband, that he would willingly give up custody. We pray for wisdom for your daughter as she navigates the legal system, that every decision made would align with God's will. We also pray for protection over your granddaughter when she is with her father, that the Lord would place a hedge of angels around her, guarding her heart, mind, and spirit.

We are concerned about your granddaughter being forced into a religious system that is not biblically sound. We pray that the Lord would give her discernment beyond her years, that she would recognize truth from error, and that the Holy Spirit would anchor her in His Word. We also pray that your daughter would have boldness and opportunity to speak biblical truth into her life, planting seeds of faith that will grow into an unmovable foundation.

We trust that God can use even the counseling sessions for His glory. We pray that the counselor would be a godly influence, speaking wisdom and truth into her life, and that the Lord would bring deep healing to her little heart. We declare that the Lord will restore the joy that has been stolen, that He will fill her days with laughter, peace, and the simple delights of childhood.
