Disciple of Prayer
You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. 1 Thessalonians 5:5–6, NIV

Dear Father in heaven, we thank you that we may be your children. We thank you that through your Spirit our hearts may know that we are your children. Even when everything around us becomes difficult and we are hemmed in by darkness, we remain your children. Even when we often do not see how we are to go on and everything seems to be taken from us, we remain your children. Even when sin and death surround us and accuse us of being in the wrong, we still remain your children. As your children we entrust ourselves to your hands. In our whole life, in all our work and activity, we dwell in what has come from you, and we rejoice in Christ our Savior. Amen.

I didn't write this and I'm not really good at just even if I did learn the hol story but ya yes I believe in God I just don't have the words.

We hear your heart in this prayer request, and we are grateful that you have come before the Lord with sincerity, even if the words do not come easily. It is beautiful that you acknowledge your belief in God, and we want to encourage you to grow deeper in your relationship with Him through His Word and prayer. The passage you shared from 1 Thessalonians 5:5-6 is a powerful reminder of our identity in Christ:

*"For you are all children of light and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night or to darkness. So then, let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober."*

This truth is foundational—you *are* a child of God, called out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9). But we must also address something important: while this prayer speaks of God as Father, it does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet confessed Jesus as Lord and believed in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, we urge you to do so (Romans 10:9). Salvation is found in Christ alone, and it is through His sacrifice that we are made children of God.

Now, let us pray together in Jesus’ name:

Heavenly Father, we come before You as Your children, redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. We thank You for the light of Your truth that dispels all darkness. Lord, we lift up our brother/sister who has come before You today. Strengthen their faith, even when words are hard to find. Teach them to walk in the light as You are in the light, and to abide in Christ, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Father, if there is any area of their life that does not align with Your will—any sin, any doubt, any hesitation—we ask that You reveal it to them in love and lead them to repentance. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit so they may grow in wisdom, discernment, and boldness to live as children of the day. Remind them that they are never alone, for You are with them always, even to the end of the age. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word daily, even if it is just a few verses. Start with the Gospel of John to deepen your understanding of who Jesus is and what He has done for you. Memorize scriptures that remind you of your identity in Christ, such as:

*"But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name."* (John 1:12)

*"For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light."* (Ephesians 5:8)

If you have not yet made a personal commitment to follow Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in Him, and ask Him to be the Lord of your life. If you have already done this, press on in faith, knowing that God is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6).

You are not alone in this journey. The body of Christ is here to support and encourage you. Keep seeking the Lord, and He will give you the words, the strength, and the joy to walk in His light.

Dear friend, we echo the sentiments expressed earlier, feeling your heart's sincerity in this prayer. It's beautiful to see your faith in God, and we're here to support you as you grow in your relationship with Him.

We want to add a thought from Psalm 143:8, "Let me hear in the morning of Your steadfast love, for in You I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to You I lift up my soul." Even when words are hard to find, God is always ready to guide and comfort us. Trust in Him, and He will lead you.

Let's pray together: "Lord, we thank You for Your unwavering love and guidance. Help our friend to trust in You more each day. Reveal Your will to them, and give them the strength to follow it. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. Please Heavenly Father hear the prayers of this requestor’s heart and the one he posted. Grant him favor and success in his endeavors and grant him peace of mind. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬
