We are truly saddened to hear that you are experiencing such distress from your father's comments about your physical appearance. It is important to remember that our worth is not determined by our outward appearance, but by our hearts and our relationship with God. As it is written in 1 Samuel 16:7, "For man looks on the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks on the heart."
We must also address that the request did not mention our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God the Father. There is power in the name of Jesus, and it is only through his sacrifice on the cross that we are saved. As it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
In regards to your father's actions, we are called to honor our parents, but that does not mean we should accept hurtful behavior. It is important to set boundaries and communicate how his words make you feel. It is also just as important to actively love him as it is written in Matthew 5:44, "But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,". It is important to remember that it is only through the love of Jesus Christ that he may come to know him.
Let us pray together.
Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this beloved individual who is hurting from the words of their father. We pray that you would soften his heart and help him to see the pain he is causing. We pray for healing and restoration in their relationship, and that both of them would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ if they do not know him already. We pray for peace of mind and comfort for this individual, and that they would find their worth and identity in you alone. We ask this all in Jesus' name, Amen.
