Could our prayers be hindered by television and social media?

Recently, I saw a post on this website regarding unanswered prayer. I was trying to figure this out and I was wondering why so many Christians seem to be living a Christian lifestyle but also seem to be struggling with having their prayers answered. I came to the conclusion that it would have to be a type of sin that was subtle and overlooked. With that, I came to the conclusion that it could *potentially* be our use of television and social media.

I will not say that this is the reason. This is only a theory that I have and I am very curious about what other believers think.

• Proverbs 1:28-29 “Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they shall not find me, 29 Because they hated knowledge, And did not choose the fear of the Lord.

Now, Psalm 66:18 says "If I regard wickedness in my heart, the Lord will not hear." If the literal translation of "regard wickedness" is "see iniquity with pleasure," wouldn't that be exactly what viewing so much social media and R-rated movies is? So, if I'm watching a horror film or browsing lust-filled images on social media, and enjoying it, is that not the same as regarding wickedness in my heart? Is a refusal to give it up potentially idolatry?

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.

Thanks for your honest posting. I believe the Word (Bible) is the final authority in the the Kingdom of God.. And I walk with expectation to receive whatever I believe God for according to His Word. Through the blood, the completed works and mighty name of Jesus our Saviour and Lord. In order words, naturally, Jesus is the final authority. Deliverance from God is a surety because God's Kingdom is holy and righteous and is founded on Justice. And God's deliverance will come according to your faith for God is sovereign and His timing is always perfect - for all things work together for those who love God (Romans 8:28).

Just like the constitution is final authority for a sovereign nation. All legal cases are referred to the constitution for a verdict and judgement. So is the Word of God - aside the Word there is no other.

I like youe response for God cannot lie.He promised that when we call upon His name He will answer but God ways is higher than our ways and His thoughts than our thoughts.A thousand years in His sight is like an evening .Daniel's God surely will deliver when it pleases Him so let us keep on praying He will always come through..Sometimes what we pray for might not be right for us.The wife of one of America's greatest evangelist of all times testified that she had prayed to God for a certain man to marry her and almost fell in depression when she was let down the next person was this extraordinary internationally renowned televangelist in the English speaking world.

May the Lord our GOD have mercy on us, us with our hearts full of requests and unanswered prayers, i also pray that his grace and mercies shall forever be with us until such a time when we will be answered. In addition, i pray that my/our faith shall never fade or fail us as we strive for the answers to be heard.
