Confident and Comfort

Disciple of Prayer
Hi, i forgot my username here so I made one again. I am just new to my job in a government setting. It was an answered prayer however it felt like uncomftable and im not confident. Not jsut because of the job but the workmates. They're okay but when it comes to work ethics such as passing their knowledge it felt like they are not teaching me well. Not guiding me enough. Government is so different from a private setting. I always experience anxieties lately. Being absent so i can breathe. I pray that i'll find my confidence and comfort in Jesus name and i am going to take good care of this job he entrusted me with. I pray to overcome this phase of anxieties and be happy and with knowledge in this area.

We rejoice with you that the Lord has answered your prayer and provided this new opportunity in a government setting! It is clear you have a heart that seeks to honor Him in your work, and that is a beautiful testimony. Let us remind you of what Scripture says about the work God entrusts to us: *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ"* (Colossians 3:23-24, WEB). Your job is not merely a task but a calling to serve the Lord with excellence, even when the environment feels challenging.

It is understandable that transitioning from a private to a government setting brings discomfort, especially when support and mentorship seem lacking. However, we encourage you to lean on the Lord’s strength rather than your own confidence. *"He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might"* (Isaiah 40:29, WEB). Your feelings of inadequacy are an invitation to depend on Him more deeply. The anxiety you’re experiencing is real, but it does not have to control you. *"Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:6-7, WEB). Have you been bringing these anxieties to the Lord in prayer each day? He longs to replace your fear with His peace.

We also sense a need to address the temptation to avoid work by being absent. While it’s important to rest, consistently withdrawing may reinforce fear rather than faith. *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control"* (2 Timothy 1:7, WEB). Ask the Lord to help you face each day with courage, trusting that He is equipping you even when others are not. If your colleagues are withholding guidance, pray for wisdom in how to humbly ask for help while also seeking opportunities to learn independently. Proverbs 16:3 reminds us, *"Commit your deeds to the Lord, and your plans shall succeed."* This includes your efforts to grow in knowledge and skill.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister before You, thanking You for the provision of this job and the opportunity to glorify You in it. Lord, we ask that You replace every trace of anxiety with Your perfect peace, which guards hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Strengthen them in their inner being, reminding them that their worth and ability come from You alone. Give them wisdom to navigate this new environment, grace to ask for help when needed, and patience to learn even when teaching is lacking. Help them to work as unto You, not for the approval of men. Break the spirit of fear that tempts them to withdraw, and fill them instead with Your Spirit of power, love, and self-control. May they find their confidence not in their own abilities but in Your faithfulness. Equip them with knowledge, favor with their colleagues, and joy in their labor. We pray they would shine as a light in this workplace, pointing others to You. In the mighty name of Jesus, we ask these things, Amen.

Lastly, we encourage you to meditate on Joshua 1:9: *"Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."* This is your promise—He is with you in this season. Keep seeking Him first, and trust that He will establish your steps (Proverbs 16:9). If the workload feels overwhelming, break it down into smaller tasks and pray over each one. And remember, even if your colleagues are not supportive, the Lord is your ever-present help (Psalm 46:1). Walk in obedience, and watch how He faithfulness unfolds in your life.

Thank you for the prayers

We want to thank you again for allowing us to lift you up in prayer as you navigate this new season in your government role. It’s been a few days since you shared your heart with us, and we’ve continued to bring your concerns before the Lord, asking Him to fill you with confidence, peace, and wisdom in this unfamiliar environment. We know how overwhelming it can be to step into a new workplace—especially one where the culture feels so different from what you’ve known before—and we’ve been praying specifically for God to surround you with His presence, to give you clarity in your tasks, and to soften the hearts of those around you so they might be more open to mentoring and supporting you as you grow.

If the Lord has already begun to answer your prayer—whether through a newfound sense of calm, a breakthrough in your relationships with coworkers, or even small moments of assurance that this is where He wants you—we would love for you to share a praise report with us. Your testimony could be such an encouragement to others who are also walking through seasons of uncertainty or workplace struggles. Even the smallest victories are worth celebrating, because we know they come from His hand.

But if the anxieties and discomfort still feel heavy, please don’t hesitate to share an update or repost your request. We are more than happy to continue standing with you in prayer, asking the Lord to replace your unease with His perfect peace and to open doors for you to learn and thrive in this position. Remember, He has entrusted this job to you for a reason, and He will equip you every step of the way. You don’t have to carry this alone—we are here, and more importantly, *He* is with you.

May the Lord remind you daily that your worth and confidence are found in Him, not in the opinions of others or the challenges of your circumstances. May He grant you the strength to show up with excellence, the humility to ask for help when you need it, and the joy that comes from knowing you are exactly where He wants you to be. We are cheering you on and believing for God’s best over your work and your heart.

We pray all of this in Jesus’ name.
