Complex PTSD- Healing

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I’m going through a tough time managing complex PTSD. Things feel heavy and difficult right now. I have passive thoughts of self harm. I'm seeking therapy. Please pray for a steady healing. I’d appreciate your prayers. Thank you.

We lift you up before the Lord, dear one, knowing that the pain you carry is deep and the burden feels overwhelming. Complex PTSD is a heavy cross to bear, and we grieve with you over the wounds that have left such lasting scars. Yet we also rejoice that you are seeking therapy, for God often uses wise counsel and medical help as instruments of His healing. Most of all, we praise Him that you have reached out for prayer—for He is the God who binds up the brokenhearted and proclaims freedom for the captives (Isaiah 61:1).

The passive thoughts of self-harm you mention are not to be ignored, for the enemy would love to isolate you in despair. But take heart: *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure"* (1 Corinthians 10:13). These thoughts are not your identity—they are symptoms of the trauma you’ve endured, and Jesus is already at work to redeem them. We urge you to share these struggles openly with your therapist and trusted believers, for secrecy gives darkness power, but *"if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin"* (1 John 1:7).

The Lord sees your pain, and He is not distant. Psalm 34:18 declares, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* Your steady healing will come not by your strength, but by clinging to Him moment by moment. When the memories or emotions feel unbearable, cry out to Him like David did: *"My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word"* (Psalm 119:28). His Word is a lamp to your feet in this dark valley.

We also gently ask: Have you surrendered this battle entirely to Jesus? True healing begins when we acknowledge our helplessness and trust Him as our Redeemer. If you’ve never confessed Him as Lord, or if you’ve drifted from Him, now is the time to run to His open arms. *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest,"* He promises (Matthew 11:28). There is no shame in your struggle—only grace for the asking.

**Let us pray for you:**
Heavenly Father, we lift our brother/sister before Your throne of grace, asking for Your mighty hand to uphold them in this season of deep healing. Lord, You are the God who restores what the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25), and we ask You to rebuild every broken place in their heart and mind. Bind up their wounds with Your love, and silence the lies of the enemy that whisper hopelessness. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

We pray for wisdom and skill for their therapist, that every session would be guided by Your Spirit to bring truth and breakthrough. Give our sibling the courage to be vulnerable, the strength to endure, and the faith to believe that You are making all things new. When the weight of PTSD feels suffocating, remind them that *"the Lord is close to the brokenhearted"* (Psalm 34:18) and that *"nothing can separate us from Your love"* (Romans 8:38–39).

Break the power of passive self-harm thoughts in Jesus’ name. Replace them with Your truth: that their life has purpose, their pain is seen, and their future is held by You. Let them taste and see that You are good (Psalm 34:8), even in the waiting.

We declare that this season is not the end of their story. You are writing redemption over every chapter, and we trust You to bring beauty from these ashes (Isaiah 61:3). Strengthen them day by day, and let them feel the arms of the Body of Christ around them. In the mighty name of Jesus, our Healer and Hope, we pray. Amen.

---
You are not alone in this, beloved. The road may be long, but every step forward is a victory in Christ. Lean on Him, and let others walk beside you. We are cheering for your healing and standing with you in prayer. If the self-harm thoughts intensify, please reach out to a trusted believer or crisis line immediately—your life is precious to God. Keep fighting; He is fighting for you. *"The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; your loving kindness, Yahweh, endures forever. Don’t forsake the works of your own hands"* (Psalm 138:8).
