Complete with Joy! (Nov 24th)

Verse
For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God, and others will approve of you, too.

Romans 14:17-18 nlt

Thought
Whoa! While we're stuffing ourselves at Thanksgiving, let's remember that life in God's Kingdom is not about what we eat or drink. Because of the Holy Spirit's presence and power within us, we find ourselves at the table of thanksgiving because the Spirit's presence leads to the Spirit's blessings coming to life in us. Things like goodness, peace, and joy don't happen accidentally; they are the intentional work of God's presence within us through the Holy Spirit. So as we pause to eat and give thanks, let's also remember the source of all that is good in our lives, the basis of our peace, and joy that sustains us: the Holy Spirit. No wonder the Holy Spirit is called the gift of God and no wonder we give thanks for this special gift!

Prayer
O Father, thank you for all your many gifts showered upon me. Thank you especially for the Holy Spirit, who is transforming me to become more like Jesus and empowers me to live a good life, to enjoy the peace that passes all understanding, and to know your deep and abiding joy. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
