Beloved of All
Matthew !5: 22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
Not so much a prayer, but what I have noticed, and wonder if we are failing to really pray! Do we look down on people, down on their requests and treat them like dogs? It’s ok, the disciples did, this woman came, making a ruckus, following them , and they wanted Jesus to send her away, because she was beneath them, Jesus, as to the time, told her he was not sent but for Israel. She kept shouting, and worshiping, He told her it was not good to give what belongs to Israel, to the dogs. And she said true, but that even the dogs eat well from the Master’s table. He sent her away, telling her that according to her faith, her daughter was healed. And the daughter was healed within the very hour! I was going through prayers and found a few disturbing posts, a person or two, was posting vulgar posts and language, I prayed for them to be rid of the evil spirit, but I noticed a few people prayed for them like it was a prayer! I know the prayers are overwhelming, and I also know we are taught to pray for others, but hitting the button isn’t praying! Jesus pointed it out that it is wrong to think ourselves better, in a very compassionate way! Jesus then healed the multitude, finishing the day feeding the four thousand plus the woman and children, with much left over. So, do we “really” pray, or just skip through, checking off our to do list, prayed for others. I also wonder if the evil we think attaches to the people, opening the door to spirits to cause havoc, rather then sending forth the Holy Spirit and band of Angels to answer the cries of even the dogs!
Father, forgive us, that sometimes we overlook the importance of the prayers you call us to pray for. Give us the Spirit of compassion, that like Christ, from our hearts, we can pray with power that moves the mountains. Oh that we would cry out, making a ruckus, in despair and worship, believing , receiving, Thank you Father, Amen
